Windows Vista

GB

I purchased an Emachines pc, on the 5th of September with Windows Vista Home Basic, there was 116 Gigabytes of free hard disk space in the begining of that same week I purchased it. 2 days later on Monday I lost 2 gigabytes of free hard disk space despite puting NOTHING in it, so I deleted the hibernation file on the hard disk which was 2 gigabytes big, now it goes back to 114 gigabytes of free space. This is obsurd, I then used disk defragmenter to try and make things better and thought that things would go better - NOT!!! my space goes down by 2 gigabytes - now at 112 gigabytes of free space and Microsoft Disk Defragmenter help says that changes and deletion of files causes defragmentation in your hard drive and makes it work harder, and points out that Disk Defragmenter makes it better. This is obviously NOT true - all the fragments would be reallocated to their original files if it WAS a proper defragmenter, thus allowing deletion of these files with less fragments, hence increasing space. Then on Tuesday I was working on an essay in Open Office and I checked the free space in local disk C properties and found that the space consumed was increasing, then I saved the necessary changes to my essay and checked the space again to memorize the figure that showed up, this time even more space consumed so I made another save to my essay and found that the space was decreasing everytime I made a save to my essay, this essay was not even stored on my hard drive instead stored on my usb flash stick. This is ridiculus, by Thursday my free space is down to 110 gigabytes, 6 gigabytes lost in a week!! I decided no more and installed Windows XP, with my hard drive reformatted, now with new problems instead. Nonetheless I will still keep the pc and ensure that it works properly with Windows XP, which is much better than Windows Vista Home Basic.
