Out of Network Medical Services Provider

My husband's doctor (who is a Blue Shield network provider) performed an X-Ray procedure at this facility which was adjacent to the doctor's office. The desk clerk took my husband's insurance card and made a copy but never admitted they were not in our Blue Shield network of medical providers. As a result, we received a bill for $1,800.00 that had to be paid out of pocket and was not credited toward our deductible. We really feel this is a deceitful business. We learned a high price lesson to never accept services from a medical provider that is not in your insurance network. Main Street just wanted the revenue and would not disclose their status of being out of network. In the future, before ever being treated, we will call our insurance company to make sure the medical provider we have selected is still in good standing and "In Network".
