Dell Financial Services is a Rip off

Dell
US

I purchased a DELL lap top for about $2,000 in August of 2008. I paid off my computer by May 2009. In the first 9 months I did my monthly payments that I thought where on time. DELL always find a way to receive the payment late and charge a late fee. In may I payed off the lap top with $950 pmt. Ended up paying well over $2700 with no interest and in just 10 months from buying the laptop. By July 2009 I was sent a statement saying I still owed Dell FS $64.88; by September 2009 I am getting a call saying I still owe DFS about $300.00 because my payment was late and put me outside the preferred program due date...regardless that I tried to pay off the lap top twice already

What DELL does to consumers and customers is an absolute rip off. They have a license to steal people without getting in any kind of problem. Even if DELL receives the payment on time but fails to processes the payment on time the consumer pays a $30 late fee. Between late fees and interest they make more money than whith their products. I have tried two times to pay off my account and I just can't do it even though I ask for a pay off amount and pay over the phone such amount. Now I refuse to pay these charges and more than likely I will be sent to collection and will affect my credit badly....who protects the consumer? who punishes DELL for unethical business actions and stealing from consumers?

I will NEVER EVER buy Dell again and I will do everything in my power to influence everyone I know not to buy from DELL Rip off Services.

I have purchased a number of desktop pc's and then 3 all-in-one printers for a small business. I started buying Dell because they were the pc's sold at Office Depot in the 1990's. After opening and finally paying off a preferred Dell credit account, I noticed every order I placed online for printer ink was being cancelled. When I'd call and ask about my order, a salesperson would brush aside the cancelled portion and just take my order.

This has occurred for 3 years. I didn't want to put the time on hold to actually find out why they were cancelling my orders. This last week I needed to buy a power supply because my last Dell Dimension 2400 started making a loud whirring noise when it was running. I placed the order online and ouila! Cancelled.

After speaking to a representative, I placed the order again over the phone and requested 2nd day air. Received my order confirmation, no express mail. 3-5 Days ordinary postage. Again, on the phone. This rep said no problem. He was going to have it shipped overnight for no extra cost. Great! When I went to check order status, still ordinary shipping.

So, all in: I placed order online; 2 calls to sort out cancelled order; 1 lie about sending it to me overnight for free. At least an hour of time all in. For one small power supply.

Dell sucks! They lie. They're archaic. Why aren't they paying us for keeping them in business. They need to go the way of the dodo.

I bought a Dell laptop and netbook for my daughter and myself, respectively, in April. I received my first statement in June, which I paid on time, and over the minimum amount due. On my July statement, it clearly shows where they initially charged me a late fee of $39 and another fee which was called "other" of about $20. Then it also shows where these were removed. It is obvious on the statement, as well, that they received my payment before the due date, and the late fee was placed on my account days after my payment was received. Being skeptical thismonth, I examined the statement when it arrived a couple of days ago. It showed NO PAYMENT (although I paid $200 on a minimum $24 payment) for July and had a late fee of $39 charged to my account. No mysterious "other" fee this time. (I need to go back and check the interest rate... I'm sure that was hiked up too!). More than a little upset, I called DFS. I went through the automated system which clearly told me that my payment was received several days before the due date printed on the bill. So I opted to talk to a 'real' person. After being on hold for about 25 minutes, I finally talked to a rep who reluctantly said that this error was discovered AFTER the invoices were mailed, and I should see a refund of the late fee on my Sept. bill. Let's hope. I don't trust them now at all. When I was on hold the automated voice told me they were experiencing "high call volume." I guess so, if they are routinely doing this to everyone making an on-time payment. Scarier yet is those people who don't check their statements and see this bogus charge. From the way the Dell rep talked to me and hem-hawed around, I'd almost bet if I hadn't called and complained, the charge wouldn't have been removed. I love my computers, but Dell Financial absolutely SUCKS across the board. All I can say is, if you can, don't use Dell Financial if you want a Dell PC. Save your pennies and pay in cash, despite their supposedly great credit deals.

This is frightening. I just paid off my balance of about $550 and don't know what will happen. However, I was a class action 'consultant' for several years and will become involved in this if they mess with me.
