I received emergency care from the "Lower Florida Keys Hospital" on 8/27/2007. I was billed by two separate entities, American Medical Response-Key (ambulance) West & Pin Point Radiology MGT LP (to read x-rays obtained at the hospital). On 10/29/07, I paid $50.00 to American Medical and on 11/13/07; I paid $36.00 to West & Pin Point.

Two years as past....

I have now received an EOB from BCBS showing that the hospitals charges have were re-filed and I now owe the hospital $50.00.

I called BCBS of Florida and spoke with a representative this am and she says the charges were re-filed because of an audit and I owe the hospital $50.00.

How can an insurance company re-file a claim 2 years later after the claim had already been settled and then expect the patient to pay the $50 that they decided to take back?
