O'Reilly/CSK Service Complaint

If you are a novice mechanic attempting to save money to "do it yourself", be careful before going to an O'Reilly, Checkers, Shuck's, Krueger's store for assistance. We asked for help in purchasing the correct oil and air filters for our truck. A Schuck's employee sold us the wrong oil filter, which resulted in all the total destruction of our truck engine. We filed a claim and were categorically denied, told that "it is the responsibility of the installing mechanic" and that "if you don't know how to recognize the correct part you have no business doing the work". Although they advertise "professional parts people", it appears there is no recourse if the sales people do not have the expected expertise. O'Reilly also advertises strong customer service and how important the customer is, yet I have sent repeated messages and letters which they have not even bothered to acknowledge, much less provide a response. They would not even bother to respond to the Washington State Attorney General's office regarding the complaint.
