Outrageous rents
|
Hometown America Chicago, IL, US If you are considering buying a home in a Hometown America community, be sure to check their rental rates before you purchase. They may give you a deal for a year of two, but you will be locking into rates that automatically increase a minimum of 3% (up to 10%) a year. If you are on a fixed income, the amount of rent you are paying could be comparable to a mortgage payment. I live in Tara Woods where my rent is now $721, an increase of $120 over the past three years. We have no golf course or restaurant. My home is for sale, but when people inquire about the rent, they run the other way. Never, ever trust a Hometown America representative. Do yourself a favor and only buy in a resident owned park.
