DELTA AIRLINES DELTA AIRLINES US WWW.DELTA.COM After several attempts to resolve a baggage charge amongst other issues Delta seems to think they can simply take advantage of people and not even offer an apology. While traveling to Europe with my family on Vacation we decided to use Delta as our means of travel. We contacted them directly and purchased tickets costing just under $4000 .Never was it mentioned when booking the tickets over the phone or on the itinerary emailed to us that there has been a new rule in effect while traveling overseas. There is only 1 piece of luggage per person. Upon arrival at the gate we were slammed with excess baggage fees . When asked why they stated a new rule was in effect as of a few weeks prior . If I had been aware of that I would have not booked Delta and made arrangements with other carriers who did not have this baggage limit. After being dealt this blow we entered the plane and after an hour on the tar mat we were told that we would be there for several hours due to mechanical failure. A part was to be brought in from Georgia and replaced which took several hours We are at New York's JFK airport. The pilot did decide to let us off the plane and told us to come back a few hours later. At no point were meal vouchers given for our suffering and this is with a 3 year old in tow. Upon our return to the United States a Delta representative stated we would have to check in our stroller. When asked why they stated that there are no elevators at the Delta terminal at JFK, only escalators. It would be a hazard for a stroller to be on an escalator. I had to carry my 3 Year old who was sleeping due to the 8 hour time difference on my shoulder through the entire airport to customs and wait 1/2 hour on the customs line with my daughter sleeping on my shoulder with my personal bags in hand to get to baggage claims. What a disaster of an airline and poor customer service. Not child friendly. I will never fly with them ever again. I will let everyone know of what a terrible airline they are.
