Apple iphone warranty is CRAP

I bought a new iphone on Wednesday October 28, 2009. It quit working on November 5, 2009, That's barely 8 days! I have made a total of 3 phone calls on that iphone. I also received 3 phone calls. I sent a single email. I uploaded one app. I have done nothing else with this phone. Not even a total of 10 minutes use and it quits. Okay, any company can have a faulty item. What becomes important at this point is customer service and how they stand behind their product. I can tell you, it is deplorable. AT&T first tried to get warranty service for me and was told it was all set, BUT, Apple's computers were down. Can you imagine? Apple, the great computer company and their computers are down on a Thursday afternoon? I was told they would replace my phone but I had to call back in an hour and arrange it, Hopefully their computers would be back up by then. When I called, they made me go through all the hoops that AT&T already had before acknowledging they already knew the problem and the solution. But they wanted me to pay $30 to have the replacement phone sent to me and $500 for the new phone which they would refund me when I sent back my old piece of crap phone. I don't have that kind of money. I just spent $600 to buy phones last week. Or I can go to an Apple Store and exchange it. The nearest Apple Store is over 95 miles away and only open during my working hours. I'm supposed to take time off from work and drive over 200 miles for a phone that didn't even work for 8 days? So now, I am paying a hefty monthly bill for cell phone service and I do not have a cell phone. Their warranty is no warranty at all. If you can buy a phone locally, you should be able to get it replaced locally.
