Chase bank's lack of customer service or business sense

I am a former Washington Mutual customer who has had the unfortunate experience of now being a Chase customer. I am a student who is currently studying abroad in France and when I arrived here, I was able to withdraw my limited funds with a 1% foreign transaction fee and no ATM fee. Now, Chase has change that to a 3% foreign transasction fee plus a $3.00 Non-Chase ATM fee. I called customer service from France to see if they can just extend my original terms until I come back to the US in December. They flat out refused to even listen to my concerns and when I said that I've been a loyal customer for almost 10 years, told me that my loyalty did not apply to them as I was a Washington Mutual customer. Doesn't the fact that I decided to keep my banking with them count? This despite of how many times I've heard people say that Chase bank has the absolute worst customer service imaginable and the worst terms for any consumer. When I informed them that I have a limited budget and that their fees would be really hard for me to handle, they told me that they would be happy to close my account. What? How does that help me? I'm in a foreign country and when I need my bank to work with me, they tell me that?! Despite all of the hassle for me, I am going to close my account with this awful bank and go to a competitor that actually values their customers, such as Wells Fargo. Even a French bank might be an option and that is saying a lot.
