I have sent you copies of the further e-mails I sent you regarding Diamond's health. There were two e-mails on November 13th that I sent, along with another update on November 18th with the report from the new vet. With no reply from you all about those e-mails, I finally decided to take matters into my own hands and try and get something done about the pup.

Knuckling over is not something that can be health tested for. It is a malnutrition issue. Obviously, Diamond is missing something that is not available in most commercially made kibbles. The "HOD Vitamin Kit" available specifically for cases like hers is $150, before shipping, and is not 100% guaranteed to work. I'm also going to have to start wrapping her legs, as they are now bad enough that she is starting to have some issues with walking, mostly on slicker surfaces, so we're trying to keep her on rugs.

I wasn't aware until re-reading the contract after you stopped returning my e-mails that there was a time limit on sending the vet paperwork in or the contract was void. It was already after that time period when I discovered it, and you had since stopped responding to me, so I didn't waste the stamp to send it in. I can look for all of her records today (just have to sort through the stack) and get them in the mail to you, now that I finally have stamps to send things with.

Monica & Anthony Shappy,

First of all let me say how disappointed I am that you have posted this complaint. I would like to start by copying the original email that we recieved and my prompt reply to it.

Amanda,

I'll include the vet's number at the bottom, and you should be more than welcome to call them. I pointed out the issue to the vet, because her toes are almost falling over sideways when she's walking. It's almost like she's only trying to put weight on the outer two toes of each foot, and the other toes slant over in that direction. It doesn't appear to cause any pain or discomfort to her, but I wanted it to be checked while we were there. The Great Dane Lady said that most cases will disappear by eight to nine weeks of age, so the fact that this is still here at 12 weeks was concerning to me. I doubt its knuckling over, as she's been on a high quality food the entire time, in fact, the food recommended to STOP knuckling over cases. She still walks on it just fine, it's just very weird to look at. She was going to have the second vet come in and give us an opinion, but she had just seen a Parvo pup, and they didn't want to risk any contamination. Naomi's toes were nice and straight and beautifully curved at Diamond's age, so I really have nothing personally to base this off of, and am thus very confused! The vaginitis there was no doubt there's something going on there, as when right after the vet had taken the temperature, a lot of yellowish greenish pus discharged from the vulva right in front of all of us, so that part I know is concrete. The vet did say there was a chance she'd grow out of the bone issue, but if that is genetic, I'd just hate to fall super in love with her and then be faced with a super expensive surgery we can't pull the money together for. Maybe we'll end up getting her insured......lol.

I believe it was Dr. Silvias....not sure on spelling, and guessing at it a bit. We always see Dr. Elizabeth Gray, but she had just seen the parvo pup, and didn't want to see any more puppies for the afternoon. I'll call ahead and let them know they can release information about her leg to you all. If whoever calls simply says they're from MD Danes, that should be sufficient. Thanks for responding so quickly, and I hope this is just a growing thing. That would be simply wonderful ^-^ I'm rather paranoid about my dogs.....if I ever have kids, they're going to kill me, methinks. "Clingy" and "overprotective" would be understatements x.x

Monica,

I am very concernied with what the doctor said about her foreleg. European danes have heavy bone sturcture that he may be mistaken for a problem. Kayla has been fine and I have not noticed anything to be concerned about. She just had her vet visit the day before to get her shot and no problems were noticed about that. I would love to talk to the vet and hear his concerns??? As far as your health guarantee, if there was anything genetic wrong with her she would be replaced according to the contract. Great Danes grow so differently than any other breed...because they are growing so fast. I do not think that it is anything that you need to worry about. Please keep me posted on her progress....

I WOULD LIKE TO FIRST START OFF WITH IN YOUR ORIGINAL COMPLAINT YOU SAID THAT THE BREEDER MD DANES HAS REFUSED TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOU ABOUT YOUR CONCERNS. ALTHOUGH IN YOUR EMAIL YOU ALSO THANK ME FOR MY FAST REPLY TO YOUR CONCERNS??? YOU ALSO SAID THAT YOU HAD TAKEN KAYLA TO A SECOND VET TO GET ANOTHER OPINION?? WE HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM YOU SINCE THEN. YOU HAVE NOT EVEN BOTHERED TO CALL OR EMAIL. ACCORDING TO OUR CONTRACT YOU HAVE NOT PROVIDED ALL OF THE VET RECORDS TO SHOW ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS TO US. I WAS UNAWARE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM.

IT IS VERY HURTFUL TO US AT MDDANES THAT YOU WOULD POST THIS COMPLAINT AND NOT EVEN BOTHER TO CALL US AND DISCUSS THE MATTER. WE HAVE TAKEN THE TIME TO HEALTH TEST ALL OF OUR DOGS BEFORE THEY ARE TO BE BRED...WE FEED THE BEST FOOD AVAILALBE TO OUR DOGS. WE TRY TO FIND THEM THE BEST HOMES POSSIBLE...AND THEY YOU POST THIS RIDICULUS COMPLAINT ABOUT US? THE LAST THINK THAT MD DANES WOULD DO IS TUCK TAIL AND RUN....WE STAND BEHIND OUT DOGS 100%.
