Magic Chef above the range microwave oven

Magic Chef above the range microwave oven

Hello, I purchased a Magic Chef above the range microwave oven in the

summer of 2008 from Home Depot in York, Penna. Sometime during the night

the microwave came on by itself. When I awoke and found it on I hit the OFF

pad and all the controls went black. I thought maybe a fuse blew or

something on that order. While I was standing there it came on by itself

again. This time I hit OFF and opened the door. I then got in the cabinet

above the microwave and pulled the plug out of the electrical outlet.

After getting on your customer complaint site I found where this problem has

been occurring over and over again with the Magic Chef microwaves. So now

I'm out the money for it as the warranty ran out just a couple of months

ago. Other consumers also reported this too. Why isn't this microwave

recalled? Do deaths have to occur before the company will do something

about it? It is a fire hazard. Had I already been up, dressed and gone to

work for the day, I may have come home to what was left of a burned down

home.

The model number of the microwave I bought is MCO160UW.

It's ironic that on the Use and Care Manual they supply with the microwave

is the warning :'Important Safety Instruction - Never operate the oven when

it is empty or without the glass turntable'. They should listen to their

own warning.
