Wii remotes and console

Has anyone noticed that at some point and time, for no reason at all, the Wii remotes stop working for a period of time. Then seem to work after a few months. I have also experienced this with the Wii console and games. These are malfuctions I believe they know about. How could that happen twice? It happened not only to me, but my sister as well, who also has a Wii.
