Overdraft and service charge fees Webster Bank, Head quarter in Waterbury, CT US www.websterbank.com I am stunt after talking to a representative from Webster Bank today. Apparently, the bank charged me both service charge and overdraft fee ($5.00 per day), a total of $37.70. I am still trying to figure how I was charged for that amount after I stopped banking or using my account since the beginning of October 2009. After going through my statement, here is how the bank tries to make money from me. 1. I stop banking on 10/2/2009 by withdrawiing all of my money at this bank. 2. On 10/21/2009, Websterbank imposed a service charge on my account $15.00. Now, my account has a balance of -$15.00 3. After the service charge, they imposed $5.00 per day on my account. I wonder if what they did was legal since I did not have any transaction occurred since 10/2/2009. Can some one assist? Websterbank said this was legal. You have to Close the account according to the banks rules. The fees are there so they can drain an inactive account so they can keep the money, And yes as you agreed to this whan you opened the account they can and do this. Go in and close the account and if you can get them to reverse the charges. Good Luck From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Tuesday, 03-Nov-09 12:57:24 CST Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This |
