Silver State Holding Company is a scam. They are working under a new name now, and switch company names whenever someone starts to complain. If any grant writers contact you by phone, fax, email, or whatever....AVOID THEM! They are scam artists and will take your money.

Silver State Holding Company is a complete scam. They got me for over $11, 000 and last we heard they are under investigation by the FBI for fraud.

I AM NOT, REPEAT AM NOT, A DISGRUNTLED EMPLOYEE. I am an individual who hired Silver State in 2009 to get me grant money for our business and they failed miserably. At every turn, they asked for more money to meet the new and ever changing requirements of the grantors, and when I told them there was no more money on our end they said that "wasn't their problem" and that was the last time we ever heard from them.

Furthermore, we hired an attorney to send a demand letter which was completely ignored by Silver State. In preparation for our lawsuit against them, we were informed by the attorney that Silver State does not have a registered agent and thus actually serving a lawsuit to an actual individual was problematic. They are still working that and we expect to file our lawsuit soon.

The Company, Silver State holding, is without a doubt a con.

They provide false legal forms, Business license and a host of other documents to convince you that they are a legitimate business.

When you relent and send over the initial fee they return a list of potential sources for your grant to entice you to submit additional moneys to begin the grant writing process in earnest. They also estimate a total amount you may qualify for that is within the realm of possibility for your industry.

Once your much larger payment is received you never hear from anyone again.

I personally called 7 different numbers looking for more information. Once I mentioned legal action the numbers began to stop working. Only one number remained functioning until recently when it too died.

Some of the names provided by the representatives were

Lawrence David

Ali Samuels

Jack Tanner

Christina O'Neal

Avoid these criminals at all costs

I agree, Silver State is a scam. I actually did give them money. I did do some research on the company first but only found a couple complaints like that they could be scams. No one said anything about the company not returning phone calls after they got the second half of the money. I have called 3 different numbers and emailed the company everyday now for 3 weeks and have not heard back from them. They first contacted me about 6 months ago, we decided that this could be a good opportunity for us. We went ahead and gave them money up front. We then did all the paperwork necessary for the company. We heard back from them about 2 months later stating that we were going to receive a grant in the amount of $785,000. As you can imagine we were excited to hear this information, then came the news that we had to pay another $9000 to them. We ended up paying $4500 to them instead becasue we were running low on funds. The company took our money and we have not heard from them since. This has been 4 months now. Like I said we have been calling them everyday on 3 different #'s for 3 weeks now and they have not returned our phone calls. I do not want this to happen to anyone else. How can you run a legit business without returning phone calls.

Whoever wrote this complaint about "Silver State Holding Company" is a scam seems to not give very much information to have a grievance. There are many avenues to voice a complaint other than through a blog channel. It seems rather childish to state a complaint but no claim. Many times when people complain it is because they cannot really afford the service, and lack the money to pay the professional grant writer. Very few businesses have a professional grant writer on staff and if they want to apply for a grant they will require the services of a professional grant writer.

To my understanding "Silver State Holding Company" has an array of services that complement the actual grant writing. The services include everything from writing business plans, facilitating business credit, designing programs, negotiating collaborations, searching for grant sources, writing media releases and packets, planning marketing strategies, and developing other written materials such as progress or evaluation reports. And don't forget there's always a need for ongoing consulting and advising the clients.

All real clients have no problem paying for the services of a grant writer. Since the decision of the grant giver is based on the application and if positive will reap a large financial result, successful grant writers tend to be paid extremely well.

Did they take YOUR money? I ask only because I am seeking funding for my non-profit I'm trying to get off the gound here in Las Vegas. Their name came up as a potential grant source. I mean, I understand that the grant process can take months to years to complete, which is why you apply for more than one. Its a costly adventure to be sure with no guarantee of funding BUT a properly written grant proposal can make or break a deal. Did Silver State Holding Company rip you off personally? I'd be interested to hear your story if you're willing to tell it.
