Direct TV rip-off

After 11 years as a customer, a lightning strike took out my Direct TV receiver. Told Direct TV, they said they no longer serviced the receiver they origianlly installed, which for my purposes is better than their new receiver. They said if I wanted the original receiver, I would have to buy it myself. I found a new Direct TV receiver like I originally had on the internet, paid $399 for it but I still couldn't get it to work. Called Direct TV and they sent a service man. He came, and told me I'd have to buy yet another reciever, and then to call back for service when I got it and he would return to insure I was getting a picture. So this time I bought a used replacement Direct TV receiver for $100. Still couldn't get Direct TV shows, so called back for the service which had been promised. Direct TV now said they would not send the service man. In the mean time they were billing me for all of the time that I did not receive any Direct TV shows - screen was totally blank. So I called Direct TV and said if they refused to help I would have to find another service who would help. They still refused so I told them I was cancelling their service since I wasn't getting any service anyway. So I called Dish and they said they would help me get my satellite sevice back. So I took them up on it. Then I got a call from a higher up at Direct TV who said if I would come back to Direct TV they would now send a sevice man and give me free service which would cover the time I had no service from them. I told them it was a little late for that. Then later they informed me they wanted me to pay Direct TV for all of the time I did not get any Direct TV shows, and told me if I didn't pay for all of the service that I didn't get, they would turn it over to a credit agency and claim I would not pay my bills. I was already out $499 for receivers which I couldn't get to work and which they refused to help me to get to work.

Conclusion? I now believe they are a rip-off company!
