My Father recently passed away and all the household bills were in his name. My Mother has Alzheimers and is unable to pay her bills so, I have taken over her payments. I contacted PGE to let them know of my Fathers passing and that I would be paying the bills. I was told to leave the account in his name. I have been paying my Mothers PGE bills ( which PGE has cashed), and sent in a change of billing address request.

My Mother just received a 5-day shut off notice. When I called PGE to ask about this, they said they were unable to talk with me, as I was not the name on the account. They instructed me to send in my Power of Attorney, which I have done, but no one would not let me know if that would be received and filed in time to avoid the disconnection of my Mothers service.

I offered to give them my credit card over the phone to pay any unpaid balance, but they refused to take it, and refused to tell me even if there was a balance. I kept asking for a supervisor and spoke with Ann Tims, who apparently was the highest in the chain. she refused to give me any information as to whether my Mother would continue to have service, only repeating that she could not talk to me about it.
