While I do agree with the complaints to a certain extent, I am forced to ask the question, "what do you think your responsibilities are as a student?" The student has the responsibility of also making the most out of any educational opportunity; meaning that you have to attend every class session, spend at least 2 hours every evening preparing for class, and eliminate as much "baggage" as you can before entering college, i.e. bad relationships, childcare issues, housing, etc. Whether a professor is employed at Everest or Harvard, there is only so much information he can cover in a 50 minute class session. Schools like Everest tend to attract students from broken school systems where certain disruptive behaviors in the the classroom are the norm. This disruption substracts from the amount of information that can be discussed in any given class period. I suggests that the student, either at Everest or Harvard, take ownership of your educational responsibilities and be realistic about his limitations. If you did not do well in high school or are the product of a poorly performing secondary school system, then perhaps tuturing in preparation for the college environment is needed. Instructors are there to facilitate learning, not to teach you the skills that should have been learned prior to post-secondary education.

I am a graduate of the University of Maryland now working for the for-profit educational system. I agree that admissions tends to "scrape the bottom of the barrel" when it comes to filling our classrooms. The other thing I have noticed is that there are 2 adults sitting in admissions when a student is solicited. One of these adults is depending on the other's signature on the dotted to keep his job and to receive a bonus. The other adult at this table is aware of his shortcomings; attention deficit disorder, undereducation at the secondary level, and perhaps a learning disability. Now looking at these 2 individuals, who would you say is better qualified to make a realistic decision about the possibility of the student's success at any school; be it for profit or traditional? The thing I'm getting at here is when does the student assume ownership of any problems he will experience in education? The motivation here is that when he does take ownership, it will open up a new world of learning and employment success. If you continue waiting for someone to wave a majic wand to fix all the educational wrong that was done, it will never happen unless you make it happen.

THIS PERSON IS SO RIGHT, EVERYTHING THAT ITS WRITTEN APPLIES TO MY TOO. I WISH WE (FORMER STUDENTS) COULD DO SOMETHING SO THEY CAN GIVE OUR MONEY BACK. IF YOU WANT TO GO TO COLLEGE DO YOUR SEARCH FIRST OR ASK OTHER STUDENTS. I STILL CAN'T FIND A JOB & THEY WON'T HELP ME.

I FEEL LIKE I WASTED MY MONEY & TIME BIG TIME.
