I had applied for a position as a regional/district manager with this company months and months ago and I was given only a ten minute interview! I met with the owner,Odemis, Shella and a HR idiot Frank from Global HR! Stay away from HOTLINE TO HR AND GLOBAL HR they are soooo unprofessional and so is this want to be HR manager Frank. Frank and his partner Enzo Loggozzo are JACKASSES. Shella and Odemis are an item!!! That makes a lot of sense that a man like myself that has over 20 years of operational experience was escorted out after a very very brief interview. She (Shella) thought I would take her job! This company needs to be reported to the right government authorities for labour law infringements. It is obvious they all are idiots and no one needs to spend one more minute shopping there or even wasting another penny of their hard earned money with that company!! Shella is a complete idiot and needs to be sent back where ever she came from!! Odemis keep your thing in your pants and away from staff!!! Moron!! I would like to also comment that not only is she controlling but she can get away with it because the actual owner of the company is her boyfriend, they live together and this is why she gets away with everything and will always keep her job. Palao unfriendly towards customers & employees !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are 3 ex-employees who feel obligated to respond to the blog below concerning the tile shoppe and shella palao as our supervisor. We were all terminated for no apparent reason. The only reason that we could possibly think of is that she (Shella) feels threatened by any woman that is confident and exudes any sign of self worth. Believe us there are not too many happy employees past or present that has had any dealings with this lady. She is deficient as a supervisor. Working under her command was very stressful with a constant barrage of verbal abuse that no one should tolerate in the workplace. She lacks any respect for her employees, customers and suppliers because in the end she has no self respect for herself. She seems to favor newly arrived immigrants as employees, so that she can bully and intimidate them into her PalaoWorld of endless array of ridiculous rules & regulations that we have never encountered in any other work environment since coming to this country. She is a mean spirited and paranoid person in the workplace � always assuming that someone wants to take her position in the company. All phone calls are taped and listened to, all emails are read, and cameras are everywhere to observe employees. She does not trust employees and are always scrutinized � we use to joke that we were going into a prison. How can an organization with her in the leadership role create a work friendly environment when so many strikes are against the employees right from the outset? In relation to customer service, it is non-existent palao�s version of customer service is laughable at best, as her only intentions are solely to bully & displease as many clients as possible, we witnessed these occurrences weekly with this self appointed general manager / vice-president of operations, considering that she has no formal education and was a nanny before steeping into this position. During my time at tile shoppe, there were numerous employees that came and went. The competent ones all seemed to get dismissed and the incompetent ones were all kept on. This is the way, this company and this woman runs the day to day operations, I guess anyone that is a direct threat to her, she makes life a living hell for them until they get sacked or quit. We should know as we have firsthand experience at the Mississauga and concord location as we worked at both locations Speaking for myself and the other 2 ex employees, we are not disgruntled employees, but rather are grateful to of been terminated by such a deceptive and a mean spirited supervisor, and have all carried on with our lives. We felt this was the perfect venue to let this woman know what we endured from her was unfair and not justified! What sets a supervisor apart from another is the way they treat their employees and most important,the customers. She is not attentive and responsive to employees� needs or concerns. We all seen her respond to customer enquiries whenever there was an issue, she definitely was not approachable and seemed to brush off any of the clients that had any enquires. The tile shoppes prices are definitely the big draw, but if they continue to have people like palao at the helm, where she seems to think that customers are unimportant, price alone will not move them ahead and that without customers they are nothing! Miss palao needs to realize that you treat others the way you wish to be treated, even school children know this. Customer service makes good business sense. Her views on customer service is one of short term (get the money) instead of been a long term (customer satisfaction = customer referrals). Another thing that palao needs to realize is that happier staff/employees = fewer angrier clients, in effect attracting a higher caliber employee. This is basic knowledge.
