Beware of Chase Credit Card
|
JP Morgan Chase US www.chase.com I had a Wamu credit card for a couple of years prior to Chase taking over the Wamu accounts. Everything was fine until Chase assumed control. Once chase took over the accounts everything went downhill from there. Due to a late fee which the payment posted the day after the due date, it was not like I was weeks or months late, the late fee and finance charges pushed me over the credit limit. By the way apparently when the bank tells you you have a $6000 credit limit you really don't. You need to make sure that by the time the statement cycles you have manually calculated all possible finance charges and fees and subtract that from the $6000 to figure out what your true limit is. As everyone can easily keep track of their average daily balance and make sure they multiply by the correct number of days in the billing cycle. Anyway, back to the real point of this letter. So I went over the limit due to finance charges and I was 1 (one) day late. Therefore my interest rate increased from 13% to 29.99%. On my first call to Chase I received a lecture on how I need to make my payments on time. Heaven help the people that are more than 5 days late in paying their card. Needless to say that after several phone calls and emails I was told was my account is not eligible for a rate reduction and I should keep my account in good standing for the bank to consider a rate reduction. It amazes me how our country can be in such a dire economic situation and someone who pays their bills gets treated like this.
