Southwest Airlines Lost my Luggage

US

I flew Southwest Airlines from Ft Meyers to Orlando to Houston. I checked two bags, one made it and one has been "lost in space." Customer service just says "sorry," and that's only when I call the 800 number. No one has bothered to call me. One person I spoke with had the nerve to say "have a nice day!" I've lost valuable items and a suitcase that is part of a set. I am very upset and can't get anything from customer service than to say they haven't found it yet. How hard can it be to see a bag that is just sitting there??? I questioned the rep at the baggage desk at the airport as to what prevents someone from just walking off with a bag that's not theirs (stealing it). She said the airlines have universally chosen to no longer have positive identification of baggage to customer. It was too expensive. They can reimburse customers cheaper than they can employ personnel to check id upon exiting the claim area. This is sick! They have no regard for customer's valuables. When we checked in in Ft. Meyers the attendant put my husband's tag on my suitcase and mine on his. I told her that was the wrong tag on my bag. She said it did not matter.....that is unless the bag is lost. Now I'm told they only continue to search for 5 days and I don't have any confidence that there is one person actually looking. I feel it's a roll of the dice if a TSA person happens to take the time to check the "almighty computer log" and match up an unidentified bag. There is no excuse for this with today's modern tracking abilities.
