I have been working with Gene Garrett (www.manufacturersinchina.com) for almost 4 years to produce my product and the last year have received nothing but the run-around from him. He has my money...I still have no product. Additionally, I have been told he no longer lives in the US but in Indonesia.


To make a long story short, having worked with the manufacturer and made several changes, I believed the sample was finalized & ready to go into production. However, then I was told that because of all my changes (which he was aware of & even told me to make so that I would be happy with the product) he could not find a manufacturer to produce my product, then I was told they would produce my product only if I pay an additional $4,000 until finally, I was told that I will need to totally redesign my product because 50% of it will be rejected in production because of the outside material – which has been the same for the whole 3+ years and which the manufacturer initially provided and there was never an issue with it before.


I am very frustrated in dealing with Gene Garrett. For a full year in 2008, I have had to constantly pursue him for responses & I had been given excuse after excuse as to why they weren’t producing my product and has been very unresponsive. Finally, due to the issues with the outside material, he said as a last resort he was going to meet with another manufacturer to solve that problem on 1/31, but after that date he never mentioned that meeting again or even tried to contact me to let me know how the meeting went. Back in November on the phone, he said he would try this one last resort & if that didn’t work, we would discuss a refund of my money, but when I sent an email requesting the refund, he said to check his contract, no refunds.


Dealing with Mr. Garrett has been one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made & I want to issue a complaint warning others about his services.

UPDATE: It's almost been a year since I posted this complaint & Mr. Garrett has yet to resolve it. After working for several months with the BBB, they finally got him to send back my materials & then they would close my case against him. They could not get me a refund since I had signed a contract with him.


As far as the whole "bad design" excuse, there was no problem working with this agreed upon design for years until we were getting ready for the final prototype - then it took several emails & phone calls before anyone would finally respond. If it was a bad design, that should have been stated years earlier - the manufacturer even changed materials in the beginning so this design would work. When he says he went to 6 manufacturers, he has only given me the name of 1 manufacturer.


Even if that was true, it's amazing that he thinks he deserves to keep my thousands of dollars when he now cannot provide the service in which I paid him that money. Plus, he threatens to sue me for complaining about that. Had I known he would behave this way when things went wrong, I never would have worked with him from the beginning. He has added testimonials from happy clients on his website but he has shown how unethical a business man he is when things don't go right.

Also, on his website he displays that he's member of the UIA which he is NOT (& hasn't been for years)...and last year was told to take down that logo...which he still has NOT. And when the UIA called his US phone number a lady hung up on them after saying he no longer lives here.


Through all his fighting & excuses, the bottom line is that he still has kept my thousands of dollars & I have no product!!! And he's threatening to SUE ME for $10M??. This is one businessman who obviously does not care or respect his client. He could resolve this by providing me with a refund since he cannot complete this job, but he has fought me every step of the way. Is this a business you would want to deal with???? I'm sorry I ever did!!

I apologize for not getting back with you sooner. Once the emails started coming in about the complaint I was not sure if the case would remain closed. However, going back and reviewing the case notes, we have determined you have complied by returning Ms. Lehman’s property. The case filed against your company remains closed. Ms. Lehman contacted the BBB and notified us she had received everything except for the mold.

We did face a lot of resistance during the arrangment for Diane's Item


which was keep change the design due to problem found everytime.


This cause lot of Manufacturer afraid and refuse to made sample whose


cost their labour and material everytime under un-finish sampling. And


Manufacturer and us do reminded the change might cause another


problem as well everytime.


 


We do sorry the item cannot work out but we do know the item


will cause cilent harmfull when sale in Market due to re-call issue.


That really will hurt more than stop right now.

As usual Diane Lehman was given you faults information. I live in Texas at 2850 Ranch Rd 33 Big Spring Texas 79720.

I am back in the States now and proceeding with legal actions. I have tried every thing I can to help Diane but she doesn�¢ï¿½ï¿½t even answer my e-mails. She knows that her product is impossible to make the way it is designed and is trying to blame me for her mistakes.

I am coming back to the States next week to start legal proceedings against your company and Diane Lehman.

I have spoken with my attorneys and asked them to call you but they say they would rather wait and see you in court.

The contract which Diane signed states that any legal proceedings will take place in Ector County Texas.

Diane filed a report with the BBB RE: Case # 28001988 :( Diane Lehman) and after I sent them all the correspondence from Diane,

the manufacturers, pictures and your e-mails they have dismiss the case against me. This is what my attorneys say they have been waiting for.

You have tried to harm me and my company and have posted a complaint on the web against me and Manufacturers In China. Com.

You both have also tried to slander my good name and by all your e-mails and the web site you posted proves this.

If this is not removed immediately, it will cost you every day it is up. This by all means doesn't mean since you posted it.

I consider that I have been damaged since you posted it.

We will be asking for ten million in damages.

Thank you for your e-mail.

I am sorry to hear about the situation with Diane Lehman.

This is the statues conserning Diane's problem.

I have taken her invention to at least six manufacturers and they all tell me that the way her product is designed it would be impossible to produce it in mass production without incurring

50% of the product being rejected in quality control. The design of her product has a serious flause in it.

In the beginning we worked with two major manufacturers and just when we thought we had the problems corrected Diane would make changes in her design and this went on for two years.

In the end these manufacturers refused to work with her. One complaint was that she keep making changes and was hard to work with and the other was all the changes she made - made it impossible to produce.

I inform Diane about this as compants from the manufacturers came in. What Diane needs to do is redesign the structure of her purse and resubmit it to me and I would be please to take t back to other manufacturers and see if it could be produced.

I have know Idea if you have seen my contract with her, but I suggest you take a look at it before you make any decisions with her compliant.

I stand read to help Diane if she can correct her design problems and stop making changes with her purse every other month.
