DishOne Media Deceptive

Satelite Service Retailer DishOne Media 96N 1800W Ste 18 Lindon, UT 84042 US Let us share our recent Dish Network experience. We have been considering changing from Comcast for about 6 months and had been carefully checking out offers and prices over that time. We were leaning towards Direct TV (and wished we had now) but had a friend who had worked for Dish Network who encouraged us to go with them. On the 26th June a DishOne Media (DishOne Media 96 N 1800 W Ste 18 Lindon UT 84042 Tel 801 705 5353 877 207 3474) representative: Paul Little 731 607 8279; 801 336 8363 came by our neighborhood promoting Dish Network and Direct TV. We were skeptical and so he spent an hour with convincing us of Dish Network over Direct TV. The first thing we did was compare prices. We told Paul that the issue was SPEED TV include in the Comcast line up but in a higher price tier than we wanted. We had just purchased a LCD HD TV and wanted HD as well. He explained that Dish Network had a great deal running and that we would pay only $62.99 per month for 2 years and that for the first 6 months we would pay only $37.00. We asked over 3 times whether this was the all inclusive cost. âWhat about Taxes, fees and charges which we have on our Comcast account?â His response was, and we want to make this very clear: âWHATEVER I WRITE ON THIS AGREEMENT (Claim ID #13802342) IN THE TOTAL PRICE QUOTE WILL BE WHAT YOU PAYâ This was $37.99 in the promotional price for 6 months and $62.99 for the regular price. Our first Dish Network account we received did not reflect this at all â NOT even close. After calling customer service we had the account reduced and a different promotional price given and although better it does not reflect the agreement that Paul made or what he restated many times over. There are receiver fees, HD fees, taxes, charges etc that Paul assured us we would not have. $37.99 was ALL we would pay for the first 6 months and then 62.99 for the next 18 months. The regular price will be closer to $77 a month! $14 a month more than quoted and $19 a month more than Comcast. We were still not sure â he then told us that a $300 Fuel Card (which he had a copy of the request form for) would be ours if signed up. We asked whether this was a serious offer. Paul explained that we would receive a Debit card that had $25 on it and then we would register with a particular fuel station and then the Debit Card would be topped up to $300 and we could use it at the fuel station whenever we wanted. A bold faced lie. When we received the fuel rebate offer in the mail from DishOne Media it is totally useless to us â we have to spend at least $100 a month in fuel, which we never spend and have to meet a whole lot of requirements and pay an activation fee as well. It was also for $500! We were also concerned about Dish installation because we had seen so many installations with wire running all along the outside of the house which we didnât want. Paul explained that it would be professionally installed and connect to our existing cable wiring. The installer came and the first thing he apologized for was veryy messy van with satellite boxes just thrown in the back and cabling and fittings were everywhere. He began the installation at the front of the house and drilled 7 holes into the house and installed the Dish only to discover that the satellite signal was blocked by the neighborâs trees. He began swearing with my 7 year old present that I then had to send inside. Of course he then had to move the dish to another part of the house which would mean cabling on the outside of the house. I removed our downspout and had him install the cabling behind it (so it wouldnât be obvious) and then run the cable below the siding on the foundation â but he had no concrete fixing fittings so he left the cable lying on the ground. He also ran out of the dual cable and so had to split the cable half way along. He did not ground the cable or tie it to existing fittings. When connecting inside he left a ceiling tile out in our basement, left all the packaging over the floor, did not set up one TV correctly and was about to leave without repairing the 7 holes in our house. I made him return to repair those which he did a really poor job of. We called DishOne Media customer service but they refused to be helpful or send someone out to finish or repair the work immediately. We then called Dish Network customer service that sent someone out the next day and it was repaired in a very professional manner. We have called DishOne Media repeatedly and asked to be called back but they have refused to do so at this stage. My wife spoke to a DishOne Media representative Lacey but she couldnât resolve any issue but assured her someone would call us back. They havenât and we can only leave a call back number on their Customer Service line. We then checked DishOne Media out on the internet: http://www.bbb.org/utah/business-reviews/television-cable-catv-and-satellite/dish-one-in-lindon-ut-22008978 They have 71 BBB complaints against them. I wish we had looked them up first. Why would Dish Network allow a retailer with such a poor history to represent them? Dish Network must bear some responsibility for the situation we find ourselves in and for the costs we now incur because of the deceptive business practices that DishOne Media employ. No's are natural, however when we do get a yes in more cases than not it is hard to know how much or how little the customer understands. Furthermore, DishOne does charge their employees for any "lies" that become apparent and is the best retailer for keeping reps accountable for their mistakes. I personally have been yelled at, cursed at, pushed, punched by customers for simply being persistant. We are all human and do make mistakes however it is the responsibility of the customer to sign off before the tech leaves to ensure that they have a positive experience. If there were issues with the installation the paperwork should not have been signed, especially if there were "7" holes in the house. Furthermore, in defense of dishone, there is no where that charges less for setup, warranties, upgrades, wall fish, or back feeds anywhere. So in the future if you are a customer and you feel as though you do not understand, and still are unable to see that there is a process that benefits you to make sure you have a positive experience, go down to best buy, purchase a standard definition receiver for $99.99 per tv and a dish, have fun installing it, dont get a dvr or hd equipment and always pay regular prices that are going to be ridiculously higher just so you can avoid a contract even though you will, without a doubt in my mind, have it for at least the next 2 years... Congratulations you've just wasted your time, energy, and money! Bad experiences are derived from lazy attitudes! We are taking one persons point of view. We dont know if Paul was new or if he really needed that sale to pay off a loan shark. Hope not. Point is that we are human and websites like this and the BBB dont have anything good to say, we dont call them to say how much we like the service, look at how many customers DishNetwork has and then see how many complaints there are against them. They wont even come close to matching up. As for putting his number for everone to see that is a little screwed up! You should also remember that your comcast bill would have been about the same after the HD Drv and the HD service was added to your bill. After sending gas receipts for four months, then getting the last submission back from the post office, (no forwarding address), their website now says only that they are out of money. I do believe that Dish Network shares some responsibility for allowing marketers with deceptive practices to represent them. A few months ago, Paul Little knocked on my door, and I was very hesitant and kept saying that I was satisfied with my current provider (also comcast) and that I was not interested in switching over. After a good deal of time, he finally showed me that I was in fact going to be paying less on my bill (which I cross referenced, while he was there, with Dish Networks current pricing and promotions.) (Go me.)
He offered to set my equipment up free of charge, and I would only pay a 50 dollar activation fee, and receive a brand new DVR. So, having been wrested very unwillingly out of my current television provider, I signed the contract.
The next day, I had a very nice fellow named Jonathon stop by my house. He was very professional. Bolted the dish on the side of my house, drilled the required holes, and had the system up and running within 30-40 minutes of his arrival. After walking me through how to use the features, he went merrily on his way, and me...
Well I didn't go anywhere as I spent the next few hours immersed in Castle, House, and Dancing with the Stars.
Which I all have recorded on my DVR.
Which still is far from being full for the record. I would personally say if they come to your door, let them in. I saved enough money to decorate my living room with a new 46 inch TV, and I will probably never turn away another salesman no matter what they're selling ever again.
So I guess the point of me writing this, is that at some point, someone is going to have a bad experience with any product or company. That doesn't mean the product or company is bad. It means that you had a bad experience. I had a great one. Actually alittle better but it was a long and tedious process via the Better Business Bureau in Colorado. We are currently sorting out the bogus gas card (really a rebate scheme) with the BBB in Utah with Dish One.
