Macy's Voids Order and Takes Payment Anyway

On 1-3-09 I used Macy's Online to purchase a purse. I used my gift card of $150 and put the rest on my credit card. I then threw my gift card in the garbage since the order was confirmed and went through. I waited until 1-19-09 for the shipping and thought it was odd that it was taking almost three weeks to come.

I called and they told me my order was voided (never managed to tell me- if they had I would have still had my gift card of $150). The person on the phone, Tim Howard, said he had never seen anything like that (voided for no reason) and didn't know why it was voided and why I was not notified that my order was voided.

They would not refund the use of my gift card of $150 even after over 40 minutes on the phone and tracking down all my past purchases. No supervisors would take my call. So Macy's took $150 from an innocent customer who just wanted a purse.

Even though I used the online service they could not track down where the money on my gift card went, but that they couldn't find it. They can't find my gift card but they knew my credit card and managed to charge me for an item they never sent.

They did offer me 15% off my next purchase (a whole $40). Thanks, but I won't be purchasing anything from Macy's in the future- and I was a loyal customer probably spending $3,000-4,000 a year in items from them alone.

I have tried several times to settle this issue, but they told me I should contact the BBB because they were not going to do anything to help me.
