Columbia House DVD Club

I fell for this scam don't fall for it too! I was offered 7 dvds for .49 each plus shipping and a chance to get two advanced dvds one for $14.95 the other for $9.99..Columbia House is pulling a fast one with these offers..I ordered my 7 introductory dvds which I was told I would get first and if I decide to stay in the club then I would get my other dvds..so I took them up on the advanced dvd offers...what I got instead was headache and hassle from this sham outfit..had they kept their word I would have paid about $25 which I would have gladly paid immediately then be sent the two advanced orders which I would then pay on..instead what I received was both advanced orders and only 1 of my introductory dvds..and a bill for close to $50..NOT what I signed up for and I told them so..they then informed me they only send out a portion of the order and ask for prepayment..that info is conviently left out of all info I am sent prior to getting my order..when I informed them I would send my payment in full upon receipt of my promised introductory package they refused I then pointed out to them in their own emails they promised delivery of my 7 introductory dvds their response.."that email was misworded" more like I was mislead..I informed them I kept all of my proof even a copy of the agreement I followed when I joined their sham club..they informed me they would not send out my introductory package until I made a payment which takes away my choice of staying in the club or not..because they are asking for payment for the advanced orders as well..uh no not happening skippy! So then they offered to let me pay $25 for the introductory package first..so they want me to pay for the dvds I was told I would NOT have to pay for until I received them..again I said no..all I want is my 6 missing dvds and for them to honour their own agreement/terms..and still they refuse..so guess what now I'm shouting breach of contract which releases me from any obligation to this scam club btw thanks for the 3 free dvds..WARNING FOR ALL MOVIE LOVERS STEER CLEAR OF COLUMBIA HOUSE DVD CLUB! Their HUGE loss I buy around 9 or 10 movies a week..add that one up CHDC see how much you'll be losing! BTW they also charged me $2 more for each advanced dvd order I received! One was $14.95 they charged me $16.95 the other was $9.99 they charged me $11.99..

Free at last free at last thank God almighty free at last..I sent off my final payment of $24.96 along with a copy of their statement showing the true amount owed..I also sent them a copy of the letter where they agreed I owed them nothing more plus I have copies of all emails they sent me stating the same thing..IN YOUR FACE CH!

LMAO alright..I'm impressed commenter wish I had thought of that! ch is such a scam, why the ag doesn't shut them down is beyond me! I'm glad you pulled one over their eyes..I'm also glad original poster you were able to get help from the ag..gives the rest of us hope! about time a customer gave ch and bmg the shaft!! I'm impressed you stuck to the actual balances owed you, not many would have done that! Kudos to you both!!

Or you can do it my way, I'm posting this anon. for obvious reasons..i was a loyal ch and bmg customer buying scores of dvds and cds, i racked up alot of free music vouchers and free dvds..when i attempted to order my free movies and music they ignored my orders refused to ship them until time ran out then they emailed and said too bad soo sad, but not in so many words..one rep even admitted they screwed up, but basically said sorry your loss..so I placed two huge orders one for music over 10 cds which equalled my free voucher total and free movies 7 which equalled my free movie total..they at first refused the orders, but then decided to go ahead and ship..i saw my chance and when both orders arrived i said they never showed up and sent them copies of my refusal emails when they originally refused to ship my orders..they resent both orders i sent them back marked refused and both totals were removed from my account, i unregistered since both of my balances were at $0 owed...they accepted my leaving both clubs without arguement..i am now free of ch & bmg and i have my free movies and cds..since i did not go over the totals i was owed on both accounts i do not see this as dishonest on my part merely my making sure i got what they owed me..the only plus is i paid no shipping i considered that their fine for trying to cheat me!! ROTFLMFAO take that butt munches! And anyone who doesn't approve of what i did fuck you and the horse you rode in on!

Well I won again..the AG forced them to lower the balance where it belongs $24.96 not almost $96..plus I have in writing from CH after I pay this off I will no longer be "obligated to them"..CH didn't succeed in cheating me!I'll post my payment off to them on payday which is tomorrow..I'll put my payment receipt, the letter from the AG also the original letter from CH showing I only owed them $24.96 and their refusal to ship any other orders in the same envelope and keep it from now on! Plus I have the email where they state once I pay off this small amount I am "no longer obligated to them!!" So you see consumers you can beat CH keep all proof you need, make copies never send the originals, contact the Attorney General for IN. and file those complaints..if enough people do this CH wont stay in business! Also steer clear of mymusic.com that's also CH!

My victory was short lived..after I received my dvds I paid for my shipment then placed two orders..one dvd set was to count toward my "obligation" it arrived smashed beyond repair the other set which did not count because it was on sale arrived in mint shape..did I mention the shipping box was undamaged like the second set..they removed the charge for the first set so I only owed close to $25..they will let you place order that total almost $400 before they start refusing to ship orders..my second order was refused because I owed an entire $24.96..never mind they still owed me a set..they flat out refused to ship anymore of my orders and even sent me a letter stating no further orders would be shipped until I paid the amount owed which I'm sure matched the national debt! I pointed out they have infact allowed other customers to run up a tab as high as $400 before such letters were sent out..they ignored my email complaints and demanded their money..I informed them they are once again in breach of contract because they are refusing to treat me like they treat other customers..changing the rules for me while allowing others the chance to enjoy the benefits offered by CH! I finally cited breach of contract yet again and asked to be removed from the club with no further commitment from me..they informed me I was removed, but I still had to pay for the dvd set I had in my possession and for the due on contract amount..I informed them since they are in fact guilty of standing in the way of my fulfilling my obligation by refusing to allow me the same club benefits others enjoy and refusing to ship my orders thus making them guilty of not fulfilling their obligation to me as a CH customer I owed them nothing! The very same day they removed me from their club they shipped the order that started the entire thing now keep in mind I have the letter where they stated they "would not ship any further orders" because I owed them the insane amount of $24.96! They screwed up and they knew it..I have yet to receive this order..I rather doubt it was ever shipped. I contacted the Attorney General yet again and CH was forced to remove me from the club with no further obligation to them except to pay for the dvd set I have in my possession..which I will gladly do, but I have in writing that I owed them nothing after that debt is paid and I plan on keeping the letter and the receipt that shows it has been paid in full!! SOOO FU CH!

I Won take that CH..I received my 6 remaining dvds..plus they removed the $4 overage..now I'll pay for them buy my 4 remaining dvds then I'm gone..too bad they could have had me as a ordering/paying customer for many years to come...their loss!! btw they ship their dvds via USPS, but they sent mine via UPS 2nd day air...I guess they thought since they tried to cheat and scam me I would try to return the favour..HA they went to that added expense to ship out about $4 worth of dvds..serves them right!! Butt munches!! Potential CH customers if you join be sure they send you all 7 of your introductory dvds if they don't DO NOT pay for the partial order..demand your full order and if they say no report them to the AG, BBB, Consumer Affairs for Bait and Switch tactics, breach of contract and false advertizement, also the post office for mail fraud, be sure you give the AG in writing permission to access your account, you will get results and they will be forced to do the right thing...IN YOUR FACE COLUMBIA HOUSE!

I sent them an email about how the shipping dept ignored my redeemed fun cash orders and sent the other orders..they answered with a yea we screwed up your acount sorry, but we will do better next time email...no, here's your returned funcash which totals $110 no here's your free dvds just we will do better next time..so as soon as I clear up this mess meaning my account balance I am soo gone and I told them so in my answering email!!

They're pulling a similiar scam, on me only they're cheating me with funcash..I redeemed my funcash prior to the cut off date..they ignored my funcash orders and sent me my regular and sale price orders that I had to pay for..now that I'm asking for my earned free dvds they're saying no I am past the cut off date..if they want to play it that way fine, burn me once...I'll pay off what I owe then I am gone...bye bye CH!

I received an email from the AG and was sent an addy for a complaint form I sent in my complaint and was told they would contact CH on my behalf..let them explain to the AG how their email was misworded maybe the AG can get it through their thick skulls you can't change the terms of the deal after it's agreed on by both parties..big DUH!

It seems CH is sticking by their guns on this one..funny, so am I! :) I contacted the Attorney General in their area and filed a Breach of contract and false advertizement claim against them! Do u believe those dick licks had the nerve to say in their last email since I'm not going to follow through with my obligation my question is this what obligation is that?..I am NOT obligated to that sham club until I receive my introductory dvds (which btw I have yet to receive) and pay on them! Anyway they want me to return the three dvds they sent me..f off butt munches..you committed breach of contract and false advertizement I do not owe you anything except maybe spit in the eye..so here we are at a stand still I refuse to pay for what I did not receive and I refuse to return what I had every intention of paying for had they kept up their end of the agreement..they don't seem to get it (or do they) by sending me those two advanced orders ahead of my introductory package and asking me to prepay for both they have in fact attempted to lock me into their club against my will..it aint happening and that's just what I told the Attorney General in my complaint! Moral of the story they lost out on a paying customer who LOVES movies and I got 3 free movies in the process after all why should I be punished coz they are lying sacks! End result they lost a good customer and will get nothing from me and I saved myself alot of grief by not letting them scam/force me into joining their club plus I got 3 free movies in the deal! BTW my Best Friend who is in the club and has been for over 2 years and is their fav customer coz she buys out the butt left and right and pays on time is going to leave the club out of protest! Bye Bye CH!

I knew something was up I was a member of their cd club. 4 a few weeks they kept giving me free cds left & right 5 at a time until I racked up 20 free cds all I had 2 pay was ship. I thought gr8 so I ordered the first 5 paid about $11 ship. then when it came time 2 send the next set of 5 cds I heard nothing so I emailed again I still heard nothing back I again emailed and asked why they weren't honoring their promise 2 send me my next set of 5 cds..again nothing not 1 word from them so I emailed yet again and told them to remove me as a member still nothing so I quit visitng their site I just recently went there out of curiosity and guess what, they have totally redone their website and changed the way they do business..I believe they ignored me knowing I'd get pissed off and quit the club so then they wouldn't have to honor their free cd commitement they had 2 me, so yea those jerks r guilty of breach of contract or promise whichever and can't b trusted THEY OWE ME 15 FREE CDS!..stand ur ground on this 1 hon, u r the victim not them, don't let them bully u or try 2 scare u fight them tooth & nail! good luck!

WOW I almost fell for a similiar offer thanks for your post..not only are they guilty of breach of contract, but also of false advertizement..u r right u owe them nothing! I told a friend about ur post and she said she is a member and plans on leaving the club coz they cheated her out of a free dvd..she ordered some movies and was entitled to a freebie, but when she tried to claim it the site refused to accept it..so she contacted customer service and they said basically "sorry nothing we can do!" So she's going to pay off her balance and say bye bye..
