Both of my sons received this model laptop one year ago for Christmas. On both computers, the wire cord to the battery adapter has burned out at the end closest to the computer. It appears that the wire got so hot that it melted its coating.

Well I didn't have my computer long enough to have that experience. My issue is the incompetence I experience in trying to purchase an adapter though the HP store. I was first sold the wrong part and then when I tried to buy the correct one the online sales person was unwilling to offer the same deal I had initially (ie coupon, rebate and free shipping). Anyways, I am now going to purchase a generic adapter which are cheaper anyways.
