Not giving email or written cancellation confirmations and taking as much of the customers time and effort as possible to cancel service. See below:

1/10/2009 mick (K3O) answered. Verified name & address. Verified that they Will be able to cancel Feb 3 (end of billing period), they will send prepaid boxes to return equip & remotes. Promised they will send cancel verification by mail. I trusted this would happen.

1/26/2009 - Received full bill as if nothing has changed. This tactic could produce one more month of payments to DISH.

1/31/2009 - As of this date, I have received no verification of any kind that DISH agreed to cancel.

2/1/2009 - CALLED 888-284-7116 - 9:04 AM spoke with heavy spanish accent operator who would not give her name, only the operator number(LD9). I complained about receiving a full bill that does not show cancellation. I asked for a cancellation number and was told "sorry sir, we do not do that". Since customers are given no confirmation other than verbal, DISH can plead stupidity or ignorance at any point in the cancellation process, continue to send bills, and the customer has no email or written verification as proof of the cancellation.
