General Motors Baiting customers now ?

Yes, now I feel General Motors is BAITING people on their web site! I recently went to WWW.Chevrolet.com to check out the prices on a 2009 Chevy Silverado LT.

Here is what I found. I clicked on the tab at the upper left "VEHICLES", select "TRUCKS", select "SILVERADO", select "PICK YOUR SILVERADO" At the lower left under Silverado 1500 there is a tab "Build Your Own". I selected the middle column "Silverado 1500 LT" and put a dot in at the bottom For the 4-Wheel Drive then click select below that. On the next page I selected Regular Cab & click "Select on Standard Bed". On the next page you see the options you can select. First of all you really can't "Build Your Own" as you have to select their option packages. Also you you will see it appears they are charging you 2 times for some of the options. I picked the "Interior Plus Package" for $450.00 which Includes driver 6-way power seat adjuster, but you will notice in the center column another charge for $275.00 "Driver Seat Adjuster". When I selected the 1" bigger wheels { the "18 inch Aluminum Wheels for $400.00} I was forced to take the "HD Trailer Package for $675.00" and the "Z71 Package at $275.00". If you look at the Z71 package it says it includes the "Skid Plate Package" but your getting charged again if you look below the "Skid Plate Package" is checked for $150.00. Anyway here are the options I have checked : Interior Plus Package, Exterior Plus Package, Trailering Package, heavy-duty, Z71 Suspension Package, Vortec 5.3L V8 SFI Engine with Active Fuel Management, Skid Plate Package, 18" Aluminum Wheels, Driver Seat Adjuster, Audio System with MP3 Compatible CD Player. Now you wqill see the charges on the right: MSRP $29,465, Destination Freight Charge $995, Color & Options $2,950, Total MSRP $33,410, Total Cash -$2,000, Net Price $31,410,, Now for the GOOD part. Over at the right I see this"We have found 2Silverado 1500 Regular Cab Standard Box 4-Wheel Drive LT in your area". {I have printed the window stickers for these 2 vehicles and they are exactly what I am looking for!} BUT! If you look below and click on the "NEXT: SUMMARY" button you will see what options you have selected and the same prices on another page with a phrase at the lower right that says "VIEW OPEN HOUSE PRICE" , You click on that phrase and it take you to a NEW price of $26,747.66. I have contacted 4 chevy dealers including the 2 that were listed on this site earlier, they just laughed and said "there is no way we can sell it for that price". I then called the GM Customer Assistance - 1.800-222-1020 on this web page and talked to "Carlos Alderete" about this Bait. He said and I quote him "ALL CHEVY DEALERS ARE PARTICIPATING DEALERS IN THE Open House Price PROMOTION WHICH LAST UNTIL AUGUST 31 2009. But he could not help me any futher with this BAIT. So if they are PARTICIPATING DEALERS they should honor this price given on the www.chevrolet.com web site. But I think GM is learning very quickly how to take advantage of the unsuspecting public maybe from our own government? After all the government has a large controlling interest in GM now? Oh by the way, you as a tax payer are now paying BILLIONS for the "cash for clunkers" so GM and the Government can get rid of their cars.
