insufficient information while booking hotel

hotel reservation Hotels.com not available , Ne US www.hotels.com I had made a Hotel reservation through Hotels.com on 08/25/09 with a check-in date of 09/04/09 for 3 nights. The reservation number 074255490 During the conversation with the Customer Care Representative (Name Gonzales)I was not told that the reservations will be an non-refundable. When I had specifically asked can the reservation can be cancelled, I was told with an 'Yes' and could cancel by 09/03/09 before 4:00 PM EST and was also given an Customer care number. I am confident of the conversation and to prove Hotel.com should be able to retrieve the recorded conversation during the sales discussion. I had specifically asked to email me the confirmation and I did not receive any confirmation from them. As I had not been told that the reservation is nonrefundable, I was looking for better rates and location. I managed to get with a good price than what Hotel.com was offering. I called them to cancel the reservation on 08/25/09 and was surprised that the reservation could not be canceled. I would appreciate if you could help in resolving this issue.
