Comet Washes Its Hands Of a Genuine Complaint.

Hi,

You may think Comet, a nationwide outlet would be concerned about a

possible dangerous product, but this does not seem to be the case. This is the

short version of the story.

My wife and I puchased from comet, a plasma T.V, a T.V. table, and a

D.V.D. player, a total of &#1631000. This was duly delivered and set up by comet on

the 25th July 2009. After the men left we discovered the sky link upstairs

was not working, a few days later back came another man and tried to fix

the problem.

He could not do it and left. Finely a third man arrived and fixed the

problem, now everything will be fine we thought. Wrong, three weeks after the

original installation while my wife was watching the T.V. one morning, the

top glass shelve of the T.V. table suddenly without warning and with no one

near it, shattered just like a windscreen. The T.V. crashed to the floor

damaging a couple of ornaments. Had there been young children or pets nearby

the consequences could have been serious. After the initial shock had died

down the damage was survayed. The table was a right-off, the T.V. was

working but scratched down one side ,as was the D.V.D. player. Comet was duly

informed and said they would send round an asseser to survay the damage. As

it was two delivery men turned up, I dont know what qualifications they

have to do this work, took some photos on a mobile phone and left. My wife and

daughter also took their own photos for evidence. After a few days passed

and communications had passed backwards and forwards, Comet decided because

the installation had been in situ. for three weeks there was nothing they

could do. Our stance is that they sold us faulty goods and are refusing to

acknowledge their responsability. We are now seeking legal advice because we

feel our consumer rights are being swept aside by a bulling big boy,

hopeing we will just give up. It wont happen we will fight for our rights.
