Washington Mutual Steals Money
|
Washington Mutual Washington Mutual US I deposited $300 into my account in the form of a check made out to me from my fiancee. I did this in person, directly to a teller, at a WaMu branch. There is a record of that amount DEPOSITED into my account, and there is a record of that same amount WITHDRAWN from her account. So what's the problem? 13 days later, WaMu notifies me saying that the check is "missing" and proceeds to deduct $300 from my checking account. So THEY somehow lost the check while they were processing it and decide that it's the customer's fault and takes away my money. So now we're out $600 ($300 is gone from my fiancee's account, and now $300 from my account). I've called customer service and have gotten the run around, with the best answer being, "We'll look into it and give you a call back." Simple lesson, DO NOT SIGN UP WITH Washington Mutual. To be able to lose a check after it's been deposited in person, to a live bank teller, at an official branch is just amazing. After going through that much trouble to deposit a check and somehow Washington Mutual still screws it up, is beyond comprehension.
