Best Buy Braintree - Did not act in good faith.

US

Recently went to Best Buy to purchase a new computer.

I went to Best Buy in Braintree because they carried both Mac and PC. Comparing made simple. There were co-workers wandering about in the area, but none of them approached me to ask if I needed any help. After walking around a bit, I decided to purchase a Mac Book. I sought out a wandering salesperson with as much motivation as a rock. Had I not traveled some distance, I would have left right then. I asked about the teacher discount available at the Apple Store, and he told me, "We give whatever Apple gives." At the time of purchase, he showed so little interest he didn't even ask me for my rewards card or say thank you! Upon returning home, I learned of a special offer, with a purchase of a Mac Book the buyer was entitled to a free ipod touch. (Later, I found out that this was only available at the Apple store.)

I called Best Buy Braintree and asked about this and was told this offer was for students only(NOT TRUE). With my student ID, I drove back to Braintree. The manager then told me, "We don't have that offer." Fine, but.... I had just driven all the way back and didn't have the computer with me to return!

WHY WAS I NOT TOLD about this offer from their salesperson? Why had the salesperson told me, "We give what Apple gives."? Why did the person on the phone not even know they were not participating?

Customer Service gets 2 thumbs down!
