Bally's Misleading "Bill"

We canceled our Bally membership effective June 28, 2009. At first we received several offers to re-up with them which we declined/ignored. Yesterday we (one to each former member) received what appears to be a bill, in bill format, with a "minimum amount due," including a past due amount. They make it look like we are two months late with payment. It says, "This will be your last monthly statement unless you bring your account current by paying the amount due." A phone call to Bally's confirmed that our account was canceled and we owe nothing. This was an attempt to collect what we would have paid had we not canceled our membership -- as though our cancellation did not take effect and we still owe them money. On the reverse side it states, "This is an attempt to collect a debt...a negative credit report may be submitted..." It is misleading and hopefully illegal.
