Refund Rip Off

I used a coupon at Dick's that said $10 off a $50 purchase. I had one item to return, leaving a subtotal that still was $50 but recieved a lesser amount than the tag price because they prorate items even when the coupon was off a TOTAL purchase! I feel cheated-themanager failed to even try to see a consumers point of view!!!
