I was recently involved in a rescue incident and the only rescue operaiton that agreed to pitch in was Heaven Can Wait. Ira responded to us within minutes of contacting him and stood by to do exactly what was needed to rescue the animal. If all people had HCW's and Ira's values and desire to save the animals, all animals would be saved. Keep up the good work for the animals, Ira and HCW.

I must say that I was surprised to see any complaint for this wonderful organization.

We were blessed to have been given the opportunity to first meet our beautiful Gipsy in the comfort of her adopted home, knowing that a dogs true personality is more reliable in a place they are comfortable.

First we filled out the application and once we were considered we meet our sweet girl. We loved her instantly but also realized that it would take time to get to really know her, especially in the case of miss treated animals it takes time for them to be comfortable with there new home.

Once we had met our Gipsy girl we set up a date for her to come to our home, Ruth was so nice to drive 2 hours to bring her after she saw that our home would be suitable Gipsy came to live with us.

Its been almost a year and I can not imagine what we did before our sweet girl came to live with us, I can imagine that sometime dogs are sick, life has no guarantees, and you can only hope and make the most of the time that you have. If we have Gips for ten more years or 10 more days our lives will be filled with the love she brings.

And the wonderful people at Heaven can wait gave us that blessing.

Sorry for the long responce. PLEASE READ!! I am responding on behalf of myself and in the interest on HCW but not as HCW Rescue!

I generally do not believe in responding to these very slanted and baised sites since the original posters (who usually post in moments of anger when they have skewed vision of the situation) are not able to correct their errors or retract incorrect statements and small volunteer organzations operating with no budget doing good for their cause have no way of keeping legal council available to deal with these issues; including getting COMPLAINTS.COM to respond to posters who desire to retract (if you read through the string - 1 of the posters desired to withdraw for various reasons).

In any case - the poster of this complaint has struck a nerve for their sence of entitlement and is just way off base with the way things work in this high pressure world of rescue.

There are 1000's of animals that are being killed everyday and in our world we are trying to do what's best for them as best as possible (every rescue deserves support).

1st of all - I would almost never bring a dog - 60-70 miles for a "test drive". I say "almost" becasue I did just bring a dog to be placed over 250 miles from our area because the potential adopter filled out the application, followed all the procedures, had phenomanal references, was commited 100% to seeing things workout 100%, scheduled to have a trainer they used before available when the dog got to their home to make all of the proper introduction to their other 150+ lb dog. That was a solid commitment. BUT my policy is that if someone wants to meet a dog - they MUST travel to meet the dog at our foster LOCATION.

I personally, have fostered over 45 dogs in the last 1 1/2- 2 years in my home. Quite a few with broken bones or other illnesses. Personally paid for vet bills for many surgeries for animals that would have been euthanized! Personally done transports and home visits! Also volunteer with a group that tries to keep pets from the shelter system working with current owners in crisis situation (takes a lot of time!) I also have a family including children that I have a responsibility for. Work 60+ hours weekly to keep my construction business afloat in the horrible economy. And yes - I am an orthodox Jew so if my Friday night or Saturday schedule (and we have had people come to our our home on Saturday to meet dogs and 100% of the time they were repectful!)does not suit a potential adopter - well then to damn bad for them. They lack commitment to really helping the pet!

Finally - how could the potential adopter feel slighted that the dog did not get her home when:

A. she shows no commitmnet to the dog requesting a "test drive" rater saying she will do 100% as needed to assure success!

B. requested we stay there a few hours - WOW - I have never seen a dog show true charcter coming into a new environment in only a few hours (would have been a waste of time) and shows lack of understanding for most nehavioral patterns.

C. Never came to meet the dog!

To sum up: The applicant was referred by another rescue who was helping with this dog so I am not privy to all of the exchanges between them, Ruth, and the applicant. It is all heresay. I am priviy to the sence of entitlement and attitude shown by the poster and what negative attention it brings to people who are spending much of theor own time and money to help these pets. If people want to make a difference for teh benefit of these animals let them do as I have done. Let them pay a few vet bills (most adoption fees do not even come close to covering bills and many do not even cover 20% of what we spend on a dog!), foster a dog that has 3rd degree burns, or foster a dog found hit by a car in the Lincoln tunnel or a dog thrown off a roof from East New York and rush the dog to the vet and pay the bill!

It would be much better to HELP rather than bicker but I guess some people would rather worry only about themselves than the pet population which is ok but not necessarily my first choice for an adopter.

I contacted Ruth regarding a dog online named Sherry. I spoke with her about bringing the dog to my home to "test" it with my cats and other dog in which

she agreed to do.She also told mme they could not stay that the procedure is they drop off the dog for a week , if we are happy, we pay them... Whty would you leave a dog in the hands of someone you never met??? I told her I would rather she stay a hr or so and we should know if its a good match by then but she seemed uninterested. She said if I dont want the dog she wouyld have others in line that day ( pushy at that point) The day she was supposed to come I received a call from her saying she was coming with her friend IRA but he was jewish and could not show before the sun went down. We agreed to meet 7-7:30pm sat 11/27-

That night I called to confirm the time and Ruth said there was a incident and had to go somewhere she'd call me when she got there. She wanted to come the next day however I was completely booked with things to do with my daughter. She never called back. I have left 8 voice mail messages, spoke to this guy "Ira" and last night received a voice mail from him saying Ruth said I would not go there and was "forcing her" to come to me ect.... WOW.. I never met her but what lies she told- He acted as if it was too much trouble to call me back so we are finished with them! We are not taking a dog from a bunch of idiots. I am a volunteer at a shelter, I have rescued several dogs... there will be another "specail pup" for us somewhere else!!!!!

I am the original poster of the complaint against Heaven Can Wait and Ruth Human. After speaking extensively on the phone with Ms Ellen Hansen, we reached an agreement that I would remove the post due to lack of communication between the parties involved.

I agreed to retract my post but was unable to find the original email(s) sent to me that allow me to edit/delete my posting. So unfortunately, I may not be able to delete the post. I sent an email to complaints.com asking for the number to be re-sent to me, but have no heard response in 2 days. I forwarded the sent e-mail to Ellen Hansen to verify that I am taking all steps possible to amend this matter.

I hope this retraction, although the original post still exists, will help the shelter, the animals in need of rescue, and all parties involved.

satisfactory experience with Heaven Can Wait. It was a misunderstanding and a breakdown of communication. He agreed to retract his post and was very understanding once he realized what the issues were. Please be advised that Heaven Can Wait is an excellent, legitimate rescue and we try to accommodate everyone, but the dogs and cats are our priority, sometimes

people have a hard time understanding that even though they want to adopt, they may not be the best home for the dog or cat. it is an emotional situation but we do our best

I have gotten calls from three different people you ripped off, and you are lucky they live far away and can't make it back to sue you for everything you have done. How do you sleep at night. Don't worry though, karma has a way of getting you back. It's coming. Shame on you.

Samantha, you are lucky we don't sue you for libel, you are blatantly lying about a legitimate rescue, you never showed up in court and you are trying to ruin the reputation of heaven can wait, a real rescue, who doesn't sell dogs for profit and keep the money and withhold and lie about fake medical care that was never given.

if you don't retract this complaint you will find yourself in court again, this time we will be suing you for the maximum allowable amount of five thousand dollars for libel and slander. Hope you sell a lot of candles because you will need the money. You are a criminal.

This is a complaint against Ruth Human and Heaven Can Wait Rescue (New York, NY 10956). I am in no way associated with Samantha Chan from the other posts; I am simply a customer who was and still is hoping to adopt a rescue dog in NYC.

After several attempts to set up a required home visit with Ms Human over the period of two weeks (and after being given several excuses over the phone for her delay in looking over the application), I FINALLY managed to set up a date for a home visit. Two days before the visit, I went online to check on the dog I had been hoping to adopt (on a Camper Cam at the pet camp that was fostering the dog). Obviously I was surprised to discover the dog had been adopted!!

I proceeded to call Ruth to cancel the future meeting, but she assured me that that the dog had NOT been adopted (as it stated on the website) and that she simply needed to move the dog to another foster. She told me the dog was STILL AVAILABLE and we would meet as planned.

I called the night before to confirm out meeting the next evening after 6 pm. At 6:45 on the scheduled meeting night, we received a call from Ruth saying she might not come "because of the rain." (we are in Queens; she was supposedly driving from Staten Island) Well, by 9:00 she had still not arrived. After numerous calls to her cell phone, we kept getting her voice mail (whose message box was suspiciously full). The next day, we heard nothing from her.

I want to give a legitimate warning to anyone who tries to adopt through Heaven Can Wait Rescue. There may be some success stories, but I'm certain there are stories such as mine where the customer feels it is futile to complain. Ruth Human was either being dishonest with me in discussing the dog's availability for adoption or she was being dishonest with the foster camp. Whatever the truth may be, Ruth was unable to give a straight answer and there is clearly some shady activity taking place.

I would love to hear from anyone with similar complaints against this organization. And if anyone associated with Heaven Can Wait wants to call me themselves...you have my number. I'll try and pick up.

Heaven Can Wait is a real, legitimate rescue that guarantees the health of the dog or your money back. But that is never necessary, because they don't adopt out sick animals and lie to the public the way samantha chan does.she is the most currupt fake

Samantha Chan is at it again. Until our court case, she never even heard of our rescue. The next day, we get a complaint that a dog died and we didn't care.

We got no such complaint that any dog died. Not only is she a liar, but extremely stupid.

She is not a rescue; she is illegally breeding and selling sick dogs. I know, I got one and have received complaints from several people that she has duped. Now they too are stuck with dogs that have no vet records. What a surprise.

this post is a fake post. none of our dogs have died and not one client has called us reporting to us that a dog has died. these fake complaints are retribution from a real scam rescue called lulu spaniel rescue foundation, aka spaniel rescue, aka american eskimo rescue among other aliases. when she gets caught, she just changes her name and moves her rescue address. we have been in litigation with this fake rescue and this is her sick way of getting back at us, because we have a legitimate legal rescue and she does not. sorry for those out there she may have scared, please ignore any of her complaints against us. she is an absolute fraud.
