Viking Products and Service Suck

RANGE/GAS PROSTYLE and VWH3678SS RANGE HOOD
US

We also purchased a Viking range in 1999. Never again! This is about the biggest ripoff I've encountered in dealing with an appliance manufacturer. We have written and called Viking with the same result; we received an arrogant reply from Viking and had to shell out another $80+ for another pair of igniters. We are on our third pair in 10 years. How silly of me to expect such an expensive (3965$) appliance from an allegedly reputable firm to function properly for more than a couple of years. Also the hinges on this range failed after 4 years and the controls labeling on the range and hood wiped off when we cleaned the appliance. My previous range was still working fine when we remodled the kitchen and "upgraded" our appliances. It was a 40 year old Westinghouse that I wish we had kept. Buying Viking has been a huge mistake. I'll never recommend their product to anyone. This appliance is way too expensive for such poor quality product and service.

We also upgraded our kithchen with Viking appliances and are regretting being impressed with the extra money only to find out they really suck at customer support and satisfaction. Our biggest complaint is the Microwave oven (model VMOS200), installed in late 2004, an $800 dollar oven back the plus the $150 outer trim facia. Around 2007 sparks started shoooting out of the wave guide cover area and we were told the cleaners we used were too harsh and not to spray directly on the area in question (which we never did). Some how our distributor managed to get it replaced under warranty, 3 years later we have the EXACT same failure with the wave guide cover. Their solution? buy a new unit for over $1000 and buy insurance at $50 per year... Customer service response was a form letter simply stating it out of warranty and ignoring the fact that two units failed with the exact same defect in a 7 year period, even though they were made 3 - 4 years apart.
