HORRIBLE MOVING COMPANY

Moving Worldwide Van Lines 16192 Coastal Highway Lewes, DE 19958 US www.worldwidevanlines.com This company was SUPPOSED to pick us up on the 8th or 9th of August. First red flag was the low quote, they quoted me 7,500 lbs. for our move from North Carolina to Idaho and the quoted rate was $2,000.00 which was roughly 2 times as low as any other company. Every other company told me that it was impossible but being on a strict budget we opted to go with this company. BAD idea. Then we were supposed to recieve a phone call from the driver 24-48 hours prior to the move date....Never happened so we began calling on the 7th to find out when the driver would call or show up, we must have called 20 times and only got voicemails but never 1 return call. The next day we figured we would get at least a call since it was the first day of the scheduled pick-up....NO calls, we started calling mid-afternoon no responses and when we finally got someone that picked up the phone guess what? they left me on hold for a good 4 minutes before picking up and hanging up...We could not get anyone back on the phone that day. Finally, the second and last day of our pick-up spread someone from worldwide van lines called and said sorry but the original truck broke down but we do have another truck in the area on the 14th.....WHAT, I started calling other moving companies...ALOT of them and they all said the same things either the price was triple or they could not do it. What was i to do? I waited and like an idiot I finally got picked up on the 15th. No apologies, then the guys started loading, did not wrap anything were rude,smoked in my house,cursed etc....Before they even weighed the truck they told me, "oh you're way over the weight estimated" then when they were finished loading they said "you are gonna owe somewhere around $5,000 or so please have cash ready we will be there to deliver around 21 business days". All I could do was cry, I am still crying. I just was delivered last week and needless to say I am missing many items and most of the rest is destroyed. My girl friend as moving right now, is currently driving (08/15/2010) @ 11:58am EST, and was told THE EXACT SAME BULLCRAP. I'm a Truck driver and I know sometimes, for some loads, they require you to weight the truck before to make sure you won't be over weight. This guy didn't even weight the truck. He claims he has a receipt for the weight ticket, but would never meet her to show it to her, instead, he goes to a hotel and went to sleep. Really? No one from the company will answer our calls. We tell the guy to just take the stuff back to storage and he won't, not to mention, his scheduled delivery time is 3pm with a 9 hour drive and when he should be on the road, he's still siting in the hotel! Again, REALLY? I will also post my e-mail address and since the company decided to comment as well, we will be happy to give you the order number for our pick to SHOW IT'S VALID. DO NOT CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY. IT WILL BE A NIGHTMARE. REMEMBER WATCHING "FRIDAY THE 13TH" AS A KID, YEA, THAT'S THIS COMPANY. SAVE YOUR MONEY, BORROW FROM FRIENDS OR FAMILY TO PAY THE HIGHER FEE FROM SOMEONE TRUSTED. And do YOUR HOMEWORK. Don't just jump in head first. IF YOU DO GO WITH THIS COMPANY, WRITE DOWN OR EVEN RECORD THE ENTIRE CONVERSATION WITH EVERYONE YOU TALK TO BECAUSE THE STORY WILL CHANGE MANY MANY TIMES. I am presently experiencing the same problems. They were supposed to be here last Saturday, 11/7/2009 to pick up our load. No calls, no show. I spent two days calling them before I finally got an answer. Amazingly, the TRUCK IS BROKEN DOWN and there are no other trucks available. I have spoken to several other companies to find out that their listing with the D.O.T. shows their license as suspended as well as their insurance. I am told that they frequently under bid all of the other moving companies and then post our move on a board for independent drivers to choose from. They sometimes bid so low nobody will take the job so "THE TRUCK IS DOWN" gets them over the hump until the find someone to do the work or you give up and hire someone else. They are promising a truck SOMETIME NEXT WEEK, WITH NO CONFIRMED DATE. I am not afraid to post my information. My name is Mrs. Gregory LeClerc. My email address is leclerc_t AT yahoo.com. Since I have a valid contract with the moving company I am going to take them to court for every cent I have to spend over and above their agreed upon price. This will include lost wages since I cannot go to work, hotel expenses, since out utilities were scheduled to be shut off, kennel fees to kennel my animals, etc... IT IS TIME WE ALL START FIGHTING BACK. WE ARE A MILITARY FAMILY THAT IS ALREADY TRYING TO UNITE OUR FAMILY ACROSS BORDERS WHILE MY HUSBAND IS SERVING OUR COUNTRY. I had a very similar experience. They are horrible -- they are only brokers and they don't do a very good job communicating with the trucking companies they hire and they are even worse with the customer.
