Computer Dell Computer US Dell payoff for new purchase. On 10-2-08 I contacted Dell to purchase a laptop for my son's birthday which is on the 31th of this month. This laptop with all of its upgrades was estimated at $850. Now here is where the fun begins. The first question that I was asked is...What is your Social Sec.#? Which I hesitantly gave. After approximately 20 minutes the Rep. said that there was a block on my account and that we could not proceed until it was remove. Ok, What do I have to do? You need to contact OnCore (Collection Co) and pay off what is owed and we can proceed. I immediately called OnCore to make the payment again the first question they had for me was, What is your Soc.Sec#. After 4 times of being transferred and asked the same question each time I was livid. The last person that I spoke to got the brunt of my frustration. I exclaimed that I simply want to payoff what I owe and proceed on with my purchase. The OnCore rep said that he was sorry for all of the headaches and that he can certainly help me. Thank you. Ok, now what I show is that you owe $52.09. Yes this was a left over balance of a $1.09 that we were told was paid off months ago. None the less, I need to take care of this to proceed. Ok, What I can do for you is reduce the owed balance to $40 and with the over the phone charge it will be $53.95. Ouch. Ok now I feel like I'm being stuck again. Here is my information for that payment. Ok, now it will be a few days and everything will be clear. I know what you’re thinking, sure it will. I called back 2 days later and the automated line said that I still owe $12.09. What! Are you kidding me? Round and round I go again. Finally after getting a hold of another Dell rep. they said that they would clear this up for me. Thank you. I then went into all of my trouble hoping this person on the other end of the line was actually going to be sympathetic with my situation, little did I know she was about to compound the problem. She proceeded to tell me that my account had been closed as a result of the settlement that I made with OnCore. It took a lot of restrain to keep from exploded on this, to put it mildly, this idiot. Whew...OK here's my Bank #'s. Please make sure that this is done. Ok, I will sir. Thank you. I called back 2 days later with no results. I issued my #'s Bank# again. At this point I honestly believe that they haven't listened to a word I've said, because after all of this hassle that I still want this computer for my son. I know, I've thought the same thing, Am I mental or what? I should just say forget Dell buy your son a Mac and be done with it. Maybe so.
