Stolen tools

Gargage Door Installation

Came out to install garage door on shed. Two crews on two different days in the same week. There were a number of tools covered by a tarp in shed that were there when they started and missing when they were finished. The tarp had been carefully replaced so no one would notice theft.

Owner says "no way it was us" - but Chandler employee theft is only reasonable explanation. Premise is hidden from public access, guarded by dog, and Chandler employees were only contractors on site during the time period.

Owner wouldn't even consider covering a percentage of the relatively minor $300 loss based on the overwhelming circumstantial evidence.

That's the typical response you recieve anytime something goes missing when contractors are on site. It's always someone else, regardless of how incriminating the evidence may be.

Most businesses would acknowledge the, at a minimum, very suspicious circumstances and offer up some type of compromise. Not the case with these folks.

Mr. McCartney’s statement is false, misleading, slanderous and totally without merit.

My employees did not remove any tools from his shed. They said they saw a tarp, but never even looked under it. These are honest, hardworking employees that have never taken anything from a customer's home. In 20 years of business, I have never received any such complaint, they carry keys to our shop, take home their trucks, carry several company credit cards and I have NEVER had any issue with any of them.

Mr. McCartney is refusing to consider any other explanation for the missing tool. He is rushing to judgment and making my company appear guilty as he frames the details to draw his own conclusion.

George, I've taken your recommendation and will be filing a police report. I'm also filing a complaint with the contractors license board, and have posted a couple complaints on the web that, with a little luck, will surface anytime someone searches your company name. I've been in business for a number of years. If we have a dissatisfied customer we work to change that customers perception, even if we believe that customer is mistaken. In this instance, the evidence overwhelmingly supports my potition that the tools are missing as a result of my contract with Chandler, and had your staff not been on site, those tools would still be under that tarp. I'm quite amazed that you wouldn't even suggest some minimal monetary compensation as a compromise. I don't expect any of this to change your mind, as it appears you place little value on customer satisfaction and good will. My goal is simply to burn up $200 of your time, which is 1/2 the cost of the missing tools and what I believe would have constituted a very reasonable compromise. I sincerely hope you are the target of your employees next theft, and not another hapless customer with an unattended remote job site.
