Radio Shack installation of DirectTV

US

Oh, how I HATE Radio Shack. Always have.

I hate the customer service (ha!) and the products, but we were forced to work with RS in Warrenton, Virginia, to have DirectTV installed.

We live in a rural area. Our methods for getting TV service are limited. When we asked others in our community about their TV service, fewer complained about Direct TV.

My husband ordered the service in person at the RS store in Warrenton and told them we have an HD TV, thinking that that would be a clue to the salesman that we want HD service. My husband's assumption--silly him--was that the salesman would know the appropriate service and equipment to order for us to get HD on our HD set.

Oh, but I should have known. This is Radio Shack!

When the installer came out, of course he installed non-HD equipment. I asked about how to get HD stations. Oh, he said, I didn't know you wanted HD. See, it says right here on the order. Like that makes it all right.

(Well, @#$% the order.)

That will cost you another $125 for me to come out and install a new HD dish, he said.

We complained to the RS store manager who assured us we would NOT have to pay another charge.

Well, friends, I think you can guess how this turns out. The RS salesman now claims my husband never told him we have an HD set, so YES, we will have to pay the additional $125 service charge.
