I wish to express my frustration and deep sense of anguish at the way Sekar Stores at Vijaynagar handled the furniture order I placed with them on 13th July 2008.


At the time of placing the order I had repeatedly confirmed that the consignment (bed) would be delivered at my residence on the promised date (7 dates from the date of order). It was never delivered inspite of repeated follow up.


On 2nd Aug 2008, I got a final commitment that this would be delivered on 4th Aug 2008. I again called on the evening of 4th Aug and was told that the consignment would be delivered without fail on 8th Aug 2008. I even went to an extent of saying that if I did not get this on 8th Aug I would buy the same from another shop and would have Sekar Stores pay for the bill (whatever be the amount and from whichever stores in Chennai). The matter was escalated to the GM ( let me not mention the name here, though I wish to) and he agreed to deliver the same the very next day. Next day, after many attempts, he finally attended the call and tried giving wrong information which was unbelievable. And finally he said this consignment could not be delivered during the said time, so I can either wait or cancel the order and he disconnected the phone. Though this is two conflicting statements from their personnel, I did not proceed with the cancellation. But to my great surprise, SEKHAR stores has already proceeded with the cancelation- No clue as to who initiated this cancellation!!!!! Won't be surprised if this is another unethical move from their GM.


If the delivery of the consignment was not possible, this should have been conveyed at the time of ordering or even within the promised delivery period of 7 days from the order. Least of it all, they could have told us when we were following up on daily basis. The wait had been painful. More painful is that I had promised my child that she would be sleeping on her new bed and she went on waiting for the new bed for her new cot which she received on 15th July(luckily that order was from a different store)


All together I had ordered 5 items, and four of them were delivered on different days with lot of follow up from my end and well beyond the promised date of delivery. There were too many conflicting answers from Vijayanagar store and Depot and they even made an attempt to deliver the display piece. When I said I know the problems in display piece at Vijaya Nagar Store, suddenly they postponed the delivery. Still I am not sure if the piece delivered was a fresh one or that which was on display at some other shore as there are a few scratches and marks on the pieces.


I sent an email to the contact ID specified in their invoice, but did not get any response, not even a regret mail.


I had high expectation when I escalated the matter to GM, but got the worst treatment from his end. I had not given up hope when I sent the e-mail. Now, from my experience, I have understood that there is none taking responsibility of orders placed and customer satisfaction is the last thing in their mind.
