Ashampoo/Cleverbridge Deceptive Marketing
|
US Ashampoo and it's partner CleverBridge are running a promotion that suggests users can set their own price for Ashampoo software. The campaign lures customers into submitting a bid for a particular product. The web page on which bids are submitted is coded to deny bids below a certain amount. Anything above that set amount brings up a submission form that collects personal info - including credit card data. In order to proceed, a customer must submit this information then wait to see if their bid is accepted. This practice is highly deceptive in that it fools people into thinking their bid will be accepted. If Ashampoo/Cleverbridge has no intention of accepting bids below a certain amount, they should code their web page accordingly and not required submission of personal info prior to purchase. They claim they do this in order to expidite processing of accepted bids. BALONEY! They gather your personal information and credit card even though you make no purchase! I urge anyone/everyone to make Ashampoo and CleverBridge aware of the fact that this kind of marketing is not acceptable. I further urge readers of this post to boycott Ashampoo and CleverBridge. Their marketing practices are sleazy and should be reported to the Better Business Bureau and local Attorneys General.
