Auto Repair Not Needed

Automobile Brakes Easton Auto Service 559 Washington Street South Easton, MA 02375 US Easton Auto Service, otherwise known as "Conco" service station, at the corner of Route 123 and Route 138 in South Easton, Massachusetts, inspected my car recently since they are a registered Massachusetts inspection station. After the inspection was complete, the owner and his son (who inspected my car) told me that i needed brakes immediately. The owner's son said, "Your brakes are only 20%, you have about 3 weeks longer on those brakes, so you should get it done now because you don't want them to wear down to the rotors." And "We can do the brake job for you for $250 front and rear brakes." I thought this was odd, because as i watched the inspection, the tires were never removed so the brakes would even be visible for inspection. Further, the brakes seemed to me to have excellent stopping power. After telling him that I usually bring my car to the dealer for repairs, he issued me a PASS sticker, then told me several times NOT to bring the car to a dealer for the brake repairs because "They will rip you off." In addition, during the inspection I also noticed that the owner's son who was conducting the inspection had opened the gas cap door. After leaving the station, I checked and the gas cap was loose. I know from prior experience that a loose gas cap causes the "check engine" warning light to go on. I subsequently went to the dealer and had them inspect my brakes without saying anything about Conco's assessment. According to the dealer, my brakes were "fine" and DID NOT need repair or replacement. I then brought the car to a different Massachusetts inspection station, and was again told that my brakes DID NOT need repair or replacement. This is raise awareness that Easton Auto Service attempted to create alarm and possible unnecessary repairs by loosening my gas cap, and tried to convince me to pay for unnecessary repairs to my brakes. Further, Easton Auto Service may be using their privilege as a Massachusetts inspection station and as a service station to create unnecessary repairs and/or to convince other potential customers (possibly targeting females) to pay for unnecessary repairs. In my opinion, the deceptive practices of Easton Auto Service are especially reprehensible in view of the difficult financial circumstances many families are currently experiencing. It is my sincere hope that this posting helps prevent others from being ripped off by this unscrupulous business. We researched how much the price would be for the issues we were having, so we had a general idea of how much it would cost. Once we took it to the station we were met by the owner’s son, who had excellent customer service skills, something you never see in the garage, they gave us an estimate and it was much lower than what we researched. Once the car was finished and we received the actual bill, it was even lower than their original estimate. So they barley made anything on me and they made me feel at home. I will continue using coco gas as long as I am in Massachusetts and I will continue to refer them to all my friends From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Monday, 07-Sep-09 22:06:05 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This |
