American Express Travelers Cheques

In July 14(approx date)while traveling in Africa I was robbed of $10,000.00 American Express Travelers checks along with numerous other items including local currency,3 cell phones, Apple Ipod,Leica Camera etc)I contacted my friend in the USA and asked him to contact AMEX immediately to cancel the checques..Upon my return in October I started the process of reclaiming the $10,000.00. Although the numerous amounts of documents that was asked of me to submit I did so immediately without missing one document.

Here are a few of the documents I sent to Amex

1)Receipts of all TC

2)Every page of my passport(sent approx 24)

3)Drivers License

4)Bank statement showing withdrawl of funds to buy checks

5)Documents showing what I am doing in Africa

6)Phone number of stores where I shopped in Africa

7)Legal doc showing what I am doing in Africa

8)2 Business references

9)Phone numbers to stolen cell phones

10)Police report was filed..request for report(gave phone # to police station)

11) etc etc etc..

In additon the numerous phone interviews and probing private questions left me stripped and naked.

To date Nov 17, 2008 my repeated calls and emails to Amex are all ignored.

I became suspicious especially after all the proof I submitted to Amex about my identity and purchase of cheques etc. I started to research on the internet and discovered that AMEX is running a SCAM..Many persons have fallen to this UNETHICAL practice of this well recognized company.

This needs NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL attention immediately.
