Late Payment Fees

I was charged a $39 late fee for the months of September and October, 2008 eventhough I paid my bill on time. After contacting customer service on line, this was their answer:

Our records indicate that your account received late fees

because the 9/5/2008 $100.00 payment you made was received

prior to the beginning of the new statement cycle, which

began on 9/6/2008 and the 10/6/2008 $100 payment was also

received prior to the beginning of the new statement

cycle. Since the payments were received during the

previous billing cycles, they were posted to the previous

payment due date. Therefore a payment for the due date of

10/26/2008 has not been received.

I have always paid my other credit cards on line a week or two before they are due and have never been penalized for EARLY payments! I am transferring my balance to another credit card and will no longer do business with this company but I wanted others to BEWARE!!

Same thing happened to me. I paid early because i was going on vacation. They posted two payments to one month and considered the other late. July 01, 2010 these practices will no longer be allowed by credit card companies. I have concern about Chase more than others because of the underhanded ways they trap good and bad accounts with late fees and repricing at will. Please contact your senator and let this person and thier office know the details and how you feel about it. This industry is giving a lot of money to our politicians to continue these unethical at best and evil at worst practices. Speak out America and Go Green! Cash ONLY. No more credit cards...
