Belongings held hostage by moving company

We hired this moving company to move us from California to Wisconsin. This move included packing our belongings. We were quoted a price of $3,148.00 The final cost was 8,614.00 after packing and loading our belongings. We told them when we needed our belongings to arrive (2/14/08), which they assured us would be no problem.We then had to change our move date to a week earlier (2/3/08)to insure it would be there on the date requested. The truck did not leave California until 2/13/08. I arrived in Wisconsin on 2/13. The truck did not arrive until 2/18. Our belongings where not unloaded until 2/20, due to Expedient's refusal to unload without final payment in full in cash. Which we understand is against the law. They would not accept any other form of payment. This company arrived to pack and load with out the necessary supplies and boxes. Our belongings were broken, damaged, lost, improperly packed, for example our clothes where not hung in wardrobe boxes they were stuffed into the boxes, fragile items stuffed into boxes, open containers of spices and condiments were packed unsealed. The items missing are irreplaceable. Without exaggeration there is not one thing that has not in some way or another been damaged, broken, destroyed or lost by this company Our claim to them is for $7,110.00. I have mailed the claim and supporting pictures to this company twice in the last 30+ days, as of today they still have

have not accepted it, nor responded.

Because Expedient did not arrive on the date promised we were forced to sleep on the floor. We had to purchase items to cook, eat and bathe with. In addition we now have the task of trying to replace or fix the items lost, destroyed or broken by this company. We hired this company in good faith, we put our trust in this company. All we received in return was a nightmare, lies and a bill for $8,000.00+ for very poor service not accepted it, nor responded.
