We received a gift certificate in 2003. Recently, we went to a local Pottery Barn to use it. It was an embarassing experience. We had all of our goods up at the counter and the manager - Michelle Preston, informed us that our gift certificate was no longer working. We stood at the desk for about a half hour while they tried to figure things out. We were polite despite this. I asked for a copy and she photocopied my gift certificate, taking away my original, saying that corporate would send us a new one. I have not yet received a new one. I have called her twice since then. Most recently she was rude and said she needed to check to see if it was expired or had been cashed (she would not have the gift certificate if it was used, and it has no expiration date). Twice in the past 6 months before our experience with Michelle my husband has contacted Pottery Barn corporate and not received a new version of this gift certificate. Buyers beware!!! I will not be asking for any more Pottery Barn gift certificates. In fact, if we get any, we'll be asking for our money back and telling the giver of our horrible experience.
