QVC - never buy from them, and never buy a DELL COMPUTER Hello:
Last July I bought a Dell laptop for my daughter to attends school in Canada. It arrived and did not ever work - but she decided to take it with her to school and have it fixed there since I paid over $1600 for the laptop and it supposedly had a 3 year warranty. What a joke!! Dell first told her it would take some time for the warranty to transfer from US to Canada - then after months, they got back to her and actually wanted her to go out in the minus 10 degree weather and buy a technical screwdriver so the guy could tell her on the phone how to fix it!! She lost her temper over that one!! They finally paid a visit to her dorm - replaced the mother board and then stated the keyboard did not work. They suggested she send it in to Dell -even though I paid a 3 year warranty for repair. My daughter, Annie, did not send the computer to Dell. Instead, she brought it home for the summer - she had the computer all year - a $1600 computer - that never worked. It is a lemon. Worse, when she checked on-line, she found that others were complaining about that same computer. Looks like we got cheated!! She called Dell US to get this fixed - they again put her off and said it would take 2 weeks for the warranty to transfer (sounds like the were stalling for time, doesn't it - maybe if they waited, the warranty would expire). Finally, I lost my temper and called QVC. I demanded they take the computer back. They said they could not do that. I was furious and knew I had been cheated. After numerous e-mails, threats to call the Attorney General, etc., I finally demanded to have the president's telephone number. Those idiots who work in customer service are not at all helpful - they just answer the phone and say stupid things like, "Someone will get back to you" which never happens. After I demanded to have the president's number, I was given corporate's tele. number. It is 1-800-296-2931. I also noticed the new president of QVC used to be a big whig with Dell Computer. It almost seems like they knew they were selling a lemon - wow- what a mess! I called the corporate office and a girl told me she could not help - someone would call me back. I said, NO I want this taken care of right now and I am not hanging up. Then another very rude woman got on the phone and actually hung-up on me!! Next, a girl named Shasta called - she is in the electronic/computer division - Corporate Office. She said it was not right that we had been mistreated, and agreed to take the computer back. After almost an entire year - almost $2000 - they were going to honor the warranty and accept the refund. Whoopee - I am still mad. So I sent the computer back - and today I called to find out if they had received the computer. After a long hold, I was told they rec'd the computer on the 28th but it was being processed and they could not tell me when the refund would be made!!! This is so dishonest I could scream!!! It is the 30th today and I have no idea when to expect the refund.
If I had bought gold last July with that $2000, I would be up about $600. Instead, I bought a crappy, cheap computer that never worked and had to spend a lot of time on the phone just to get those jerks to take the computer back. Finding out that the new president of QVC used to be with Dell makes me very suspicious. The computer they sold to me is a bad model - many people have posted complaints about it and many more have posted complaints about Dell - a dishonest company. Today, I spent the entire afternoon trying to find out when I would get the refund. The customer service people could not tell me. They are simpletons. They simply answer the phone - they have nothing to offer as far as customer service goes. I explained to the girl that I had a right to have my refund now, and I wanted it sent via mail. She advised that the card I paid for the computer with would be debited - ONE PROBLEM - I cancelled that card last December. What does QVC do about this? Do they notify the customer they will get a refund and when to expect it? No, they do not. They tell the customer that the refund will be made, if it is not accepted by the bank then it will be returned and they will contact the customer. Who does business this way? First, I said let me know when the refund will be made and I can notify my bank it is coming on a cancelled card (hoping that number has not been given to anyone else) and counting on the bank to deposit the money in the right account - this leaves a lot to chance!! Customer Service would not advise me when this transaction would take place nor would they take a different card nor would they give me any information at all. I guess I am supposed to sit here, and hope everything works out. Gosh, thats super!! So I called the corporate office only by this time the corporate people have all gone home for the weekend. This totally sucks. I left a long message on the phone, left a long email for QVC and next plan to contact the ATTY General's office. Take notice - if I were a wealthy person like Oprah, I know QVC would bend over backwards to help. I am just a simple citizen. They can take my $2000 and keep it for 11 months and then say they will refund but in fact, where is my refund and I feel they have a moral and ethical obligation to refund that money right now. Forget that business about waiting until I see it in my bank - the card has been cancelled - what happens now? Those people are not really jerks - they are just selfish and part of the big greasy corporate America - the greed that has taken over our world is sickening. I LEARNED ONE THING FROM THIS NIGHTMARE - NEVER BUY DELL. THEY CHEAT. NEVER BUY FROM QVC - AND IF YOU DO THESE THINGS, YOU WILL BE SAFE. I WILL NEVER EVEN WATCH THOSE GREEDY, UNETHICAL PIGS AT QVC AGAIN. THEY ARE HORRIBLE PEOPLE. WHEN DOES THE GREED STOP?
