Universal Fidelity US After trying to get the phone number for Universal I stumbled upon this website. I thought I was the only one with the problems with Universal however I now see that I am not. Like everyone else they called me a total of 8 times in one day the last one being at 9 pm (central time) and when I answered like everyone else the employees were very rude. The first phone call I stated I would be paying the account and they were to make note of this. (I've learned to always have every company no matter who it is make notes - not to mention read them back to me so I know what is stated should I need to call back and fight for anything - but also to keep track of the phone calls, notes and anything else that is necessary for future use. Although this can be time consuming it pays off in the end believe me, just make sure everything is time and date stamped!) They then called back about an hour later and when I tried to speak with the employee (who didn't speak English to begin with so could not answer any questions) she spoke over me, ignored my questions, repeated what she said more than once and continued as if I was an answering machine. Same outcome for this one. There was one more phone call after about an hour and the employee hung up on me when I tried to state what was going on with the situation. About 2 hours later they called again, this time I was so fed up I spoke with a manager since I was hung up on the previous phone call when trying to resolve the problem over the phone rather than mailing in a check. When on the phone with the manager I laid it on the line and said if anyone EVER calls me again (which I believe I have one open account yet)I would simply NOT pay it and they can stay on my credit report for all I cared. I was tired of the late phone calls, not to mention the continuous calls, the harassing, continues hang ups, and those calling who are unable to assist me because they cannot speak my language. (If they cant understand what I am saying then how are they going to help me?) Needless to say I have not heard from them since, although what was said on the phone I would not say to my mother, but I found that giving them a taste of their medicine was my only option and it seemed to work. Once they knew I would let it sit there and not pay the managers attitude changed 180 degrees. Since they now own the account and the person you originally owe has already been paid (most of the time) they are the ones that will be loosing money in the long run. I figured its already on my credit report so it can't get a whole lot worst and to prove a point should they call again, I WONT PAY IT! So we'll see what happens from here, since I'll send the money when I can, not when they want it...which is why they haven't been paid yet. Isn't that obvious? Them calling 300 times a month isn't going to make me pay them any faster, in all it will make me mad and I will take forever to pay it.
