I ran out of propane during the night last night and it was -4 degrees. I am 6 months pregnant and have had Influenza A, along with 2 of my children. We have been extremely sick for over a week and only get out of bed to go to the bathroom and warm up soup. We ran out of propane, and called Ferrell Gas first thing this morning. They told us that they would come right out but they were not sure about the time, but at least by noon. There was an additional charge of $100 for them coming out immediately. I agreed, and waited. All morning my children and I froze waiting for the truck, and it never came. I called again and told the gal that I was 6 months pregnant and that we had been very sick. She told me that the propane guy would not enter the house if we were sick, and that he would not light my pilot lights. Finally I called a few friends and they got on the phone and got them to come out. They made it here at 3pm. Now we all feel sick and feverish again. Two months earlier, we were needing propane and we had to get the minimum of 250 gallons which was $500.00. I had gone to Family Services to get help with the large amount. They sent a check in to Ferrell Gas for $350.00. When the guy arrived at the door, I told him that they sent in a check. The driver told me that he knew nothing about it. I asked him if I could call and get it worked out, and he said “NO! I have to get a check for the total amount RIGHT NOW, or I leave!†So I wrote him the check for the full amount and he went and put the propane in and left. The $350.00 was sent in and held for us, but they never called or mentioned to us that they received it. I called Family Services today about it today, they told me that they sent it in last time. I just never knew. Also, the first time we were desperate, our gauge was not working. He was not happy to replace it and he acted like it was my fault or something. Although Ferrell Gas owns my tank and is responsible for the upkeep, they charged me for the gauge! After talking with a few people about the situation, including one of the police officers and the City Administrators, I have learned that Ferrell Gas cannot refuse to give me propane with the extreme weather conditions that we have here in Minnesota. There is a law in affect that I will collect information on. They also said that refusal to fix the pilot lights due to our sickness was just not appropriate. I am not satisfied with the way I have been treated and I want everyone to know what Ferrell Gas is truly like. I do not want others to be their victims in their time of need! Every week, I plan on finding ONE way to expose Ferrell Gas on the internet until I get restitution.
