Large Picture Window, inside wood trim nail rusting stain Weathershield Inc 1 Weathershield Plaza medford, wi US www.weathershield.com Immediately after occupying our new home with all Weathershield windows and doors, rust stains/blooms appeared on the interior wood trim at glazing nail/brad locations of our 5 large picture windows. This was due to occasional condensation on cold winter days rusting the carbon steel nails/brads(inspection revealed the galvanizing on the brads was scaped off by fabrication methods) used in the trim attaching design. Contacting Weathershield resulted in negative responses claiming interior humidity, condensation, etc. We claimed that humidity upsets inside homes is noraml in northern climates and window designs should recognize and select materials accordingly including the use of stainless steel nails/brads. Weathershield continued to ignore our pleas. We removed the stained wood trim and replaced with new trim using stainless brads in 2006 and the rusting problem has been solved. In addition we filed suit in Small Claims Court, Medford, WI for cost recovery. The judge, however, ruled in favor of Weathershield pointing to their warranty excluding interior condensation. This was not acceptable to us and would advise prospective Buyers to beware of the poor and sub-standard customer support, performance and design of this window manufacturer, Weathershield, Medford, Wisconsin.
